Briefing

Theo is unable to construct words after witnessing that crime scene with Audra this morning. It was a situation made impossible to wrap around, especially with the technology that Toronto has, it would be considered a miracle. Bringing back a human to life.

Eugene hovers over to Theo, wondering if he was okay. "Hey, speak up. Are you alright?"

Theo was shaking his head lightly while still having his eyes glued to the floor. "Still gives me the creeps thinking about it."

Eugene looks over to Audra, wondering what went wrong. "What did you guys see?" He asks.

Audra was anxious in that moment where she proceeds to recall the events. She points out, "Early morning, there was a home invasion. Family lives were taken."

Eugene stated, "Wouldn't this be normal in our field?"

"Well 'Normally' would be an understatement, Eugene. Two kids, a mother and father."

"That's... something."

"We strongly believe our previous assignment was connected to this morning's crime scene."

"How?" As he requests.

Audra walks to Eugene, takes out a photo from her right pocket and passes it to him. As he unfolds this crumpled photo, she asks him if the person in the picture was familiar. She gestures, "This guy was arrested shortly. Blondie, wears dark clothing, has been seen with multiple bruises. He was the one we killed off around two days ago."

As Eugene examines, he paused. This unphased look on his face appears as he views it longer. "This guy?" He says it, begins to slowly doubt it, "He couldn't..."

He glances over to Theo, as he demands an answer, saying, "Were the higher ranks involved?"

Theo pans to him, "They were." He adds an additional info, "The Casters were surrounding the area, and that place... it reeked of vomit."

"He shouldn't be roaming around if he's out there." Eugene was concerned, and realizes what Theo mentioned, "And it smelt?"

Audra interrupts, "Imagine the bodies piling up that the house couldn't accommodate them. Might as well repaint the house red."

"So in other words, a lot of casualties?" Eugene interprets her response.

"Casualties sure, but not what you think."

"What do you mean?"

She gathers up any courage in herself against the fears, and tells Eugene, "The Cleanup Envoys found that there were multiple corpses... that resembled him."

Upon hearing this, Natalie began to feel lightheaded. She politely gestures Eugene to hand over the photo to take a look for herself. Acknowledging this person, as her eyes were locked on, she communicates to Audra with nervousness and tells her, "But... we killed him. It wouldn't make sense for him to just come back to life. Right?"

Eugene with a exhausting tone says to Natalie, "This city is already confusing enough. The corpses look like him. We don't need more of whatever this is."

She responds with aggravation, "Well we have to do something about it! We have to find him or else he will cause more damage than before."

"I wouldn't test whatever he has now." Eugene insisted.

"Still." She says, "Wouldn't you avenge her?"

Natalie finishes her words with frustration buried inside. She gives Audra back the photo, while she brings her things to leave.

"Where are you going?" Eugene asks, but no words muttered from Natalie.

Just as Natalie was about to open the door to head downstairs, Theo placed his hand on her shoulder to stop her. Theo sympathizes, "As much as you want to hunt down this fucker, we can't afford to lose another person."

"Why do you care about me?" Natalie was quiet, her face sunken. Hopeless, but desperate to kill the man who remains alive.

He thinks for a moment, and answers carefully with, "Just sit with it for now like the rest of us. Just head to wherever you were going." And proceeded to let her go.

She walks out, and Theo walks back to the group. "What else could we do?" He asks Eugene.

He discusses, "You tried. I wouldn't think of something better anyways. That's all that matters for now."

"If only I took Laura's spot, Natalie would be fine."

"You wouldn't know if that sacrifice would benefit anyone."

Audra and Eugene reveals their sorrow towards Theo. He felt this guilt creeping up and there really wasn't anything he could do but drown in this stress.
