He's our senior, and a renowned specialist at the hospital.

I've always felt fortunate to learn under Dr. Smith.

The professional skills I possess today are inseparable from Dr. Smith's guidance.

"Emily and I are strictly mentor and mentee, what else could we be!"

I didn't refute Jack's response.

Perhaps even he was unaware of how guilty his words sounded.

He unconsciously let go of my right hand, and I slowly sat down in the chair, examining the patient's case on the computer.

"You know the truth in your heart!"

After that argument, I couldn't be bothered to deal with him anymore.

I didn't want to let my emotions get too out of hand and affect patient care.

That night, I was on the night shift.

I worked until midnight before clocking out.

In the past, Jack would always come to pick me up after my shift.

Many times I told him I could just take a cab home, but he'd always pat my head and say it wasn't safe.

This time, though, there wasn't a peep from him.
