Chapter 5

Well, that's just how it goes!

At that moment, for some reason, my eyes started stinging terribly. I could hardly bear it and had to quickly lower my head. "It's nothing, I'm fine."

Gritting my teeth, I staggered forward two more steps before my legs gave out and I started to collapse to the ground.

Suddenly, I felt myself lifted into the air.

Dr. Smith scooped me up in one swift motion and deposited me in the passenger seat of the car.

He felt my forehead with his hand, his brow furrowing slightly. "Stop trying to be tough. You're burning up!"

I instinctively squirmed, trying to sit up, but Dr. Smith pushed me back down into the seat.

He found some medicine in the car and made me take it, then fastened my seatbelt before driving to the hospital.

As the car started moving, I softly mumbled a "thank you" before my foggy mind finally drifted off to sleep.

When I woke up again, I found myself lying in a hospital bed.
