Chapter 4

Despite the painful surgery recovery, the thought of revenge kept me going.

Two months later, when I returned to the States, my hand was fully functional again, and my face showed no signs of scarring.

Fortunately, coming from a wealthy family, I had the means to fight back.

This fact, however, I never disclosed to Callie.

During these two months abroad, I maintained my connections back home.

Since that day, Callie would occasionally send me apologetic messages, inquiring about my well-being.

"Blaine, are you okay? Can you please just respond once?"

"I really am planning to break up with Zoran, I'm just stalling him."

"I'm so sorry for hurting you. Can't we start over, considering how I've cared for you?"

It was then I realized I never truly knew my girlfriend.

Perhaps it was due to her years of involvement with Zoran.

She appeared gentle, but in reality, lies flowed effortlessly from her lips.

She was unaware that I frequently watched everything that transpired between her and Zoran in my house through surveillance cameras.

After each encounter, when she was left in a wretched state, she would feel guilty and apologize to me at night, making me sick to my stomach time and time again.

Upon returning to the States, the first thing I did was reclaim the account that always attracted Zoran, and announced, "I'm back."A flood of fans swarmed in to celebrate my comeback.

Many who had been holding back for a long time asked in the comments if my account had been stolen.

I chose the hottest comment to reply to.

"I'll give everyone an explanation soon."

Watching the surveillance footage, I saw Zoran indeed sneaking into the house in the middle of the night to consult with Callie.

"What should we do? He's back."

Callie was pacing anxiously while Zoran remained relatively composed.

"Here's the plan: you try to plead with him first, see if you can continue to go undercover by his side."

Callie couldn't believe Zoran would come up with such a lousy idea and started pummeling him with her fists.

"Have you no heart? Who sends their girlfriend out time and time again? Not to mention whether Blaine would even believe me anymore. I've already done enough damage. How many more times do you want me to hurt him?"

Zoran detected the concern in her words and narrowed his eyes.

"You still have feelings for him, don't you? Listen, Callie, you've been by his side for so long, and it's been grating on my nerves. Don't think I can't manage without you."

The news of my return had so quickly driven a wedge between them.

Tears welled up in Callie's eyes, unable to believe that after all she'd done for Zoran, she was now facing his contempt."If you hadn't been obsessed with racing since childhood, despite lacking the skills, I wouldn't have needed to help you go undercover for so long. Initially, I thought you were just stealing some data, but who knew you'd deliberately scatter nails to cause his accident? I already feel guilty enough towards him."

That night, Zoran couldn't help but beat Callie black and blue.

It wasn't the first time he had been violent towards Callie, and she had long since grown accustomed to his hot and cold behavior.

As long as he apologized, she would still forgive him without hesitation.

Sure enough, early the next morning, Callie sent a message seeking reconciliation.

I couldn't help but sneer as I held my phone.

"Alright."

Callie hadn't expected me to reply and excitedly expressed her joy.

Meanwhile, I was compiling their misdeeds into a document, planning to post it online.

When Callie asked to meet, I nodded in agreement.

At the coffee shop, when Winters saw me looking as if nothing had happened, she found herself at a loss for words.

After a long pause, she finally mumbled.

"Your face... it's okay now?"

"Thanks to you, I've suffered quite a bit."

Her eyes were bloodshot, showing much more emotion than when she had heard my screams before.
