Chapter 3

Your shoulders slouch as you read the message from Winters. She's not coming to pick you up.

"With your face like that, you'll probably get people talking if you go. I'll just go by myself."

Winters seems to realize she's said too much and watches your expression cautiously for a long time. Seeing no change, she relaxes.

Before leaving, she locks the door, thinking this will keep you in.

I follow her all the way to the bridal shop. Sure enough, Zoran is already waiting there.

The two of them embrace in the store, oblivious to everyone else. Zoran helps her pick out dresses, one by one.

Callie tries on a backless gown. Zoran runs his hand along her waist, marveling.

"That lucky bastard, he's had my woman for so long."

Callie looks at herself in the mirror, actually feeling a hint of anticipation.

"I still think I should marry Winters. Otherwise your situation won't be secure."

Zoran grabs her neck urgently.

"You haven't actually fallen for him, have you?"

I see a flicker of panic in Callie's eyes as she swats his hand away. I find it amusing - why hesitate after going this far?

She shrugs dismissively and sneers.

"If you could just get first place for once, I wouldn't have to make this sacrifice."

She turns to face Zoran, reassuring him."Don't be so paranoid, I'm doing all this for you."

Zoran gave her butt a punishing squeeze.

I stood just outside the store, watching it all unfold with a cold smirk. They were so engrossed they never noticed me from start to finish.

A Rolls-Royce slowly pulled up at the corner, eliciting gasps of awe.

The entwined pair in the bridal shop were also drawn by the sound.

Seeing me outside, Callie's face instantly drained of color. She stumbled back two steps, her words quavering.

"Blaine, let me explain."

The car door behind me opened slowly. I took a step back and got in.

I waved to Callie through the car window.

I had left the house to Callie, just to see what other tricks she might pull.

I had set up cameras in the rooms. Sure enough, after leaving the bridal shop, Zoran followed her home.

Callie searched every room for traces of me. Once certain I was gone, she curled up and began to cry in frustration.

"He saw us. What are we going to do?"

Zoran casually rifled through my belongings as he answered.

"Isn't it perfect that he saw? Now you can break up without having to care for that ugly freak anymore. I've got the consent form, that's all I need."Callie tried to say something more, but seeing his attitude, she couldn't get the words out.

Zoran had been pent up for a long time. With me gone, his mind was free to wander.

Right there by my bed, he started having thoughts about Callie.

"Baby, it's been a while since we've... you know. How about we..."

Callie shoved him away, unable to hold back her complaints.

"Is that all you think about? I'm trying to plan things out for you, and you couldn't care less. Did you see the way he looked? He doesn't seem like just anybody. If he reports us, do you think you'd win?"

Zoran sat on the bed with his legs crossed, his expression fierce.

"Don't make excuses. I can see you've taken a liking to that guy. What, you've developed feelings from taking care of him? Can't bear to let him go?"

Zoran no longer cared about Callie's feelings and pinned her to the bed, finally having his way with her.

When Callie's sobs came through the surveillance feed in waves, I was already waiting in the departure lounge.

I gripped my phone tightly, saving the video as a reminder to myself never to show mercy to these two.

A doctor was already prepared for me overseas, waiting to perform surgery as soon as I landed.

The operation went smoothly. Without Callie's deliberate signature, I received the best treatment possible.
