Chapter 8: Alex's Struggle
Alex Grant lay in his hospital bed, his body broken and battered. He had been in a coma for days, and his family had been waiting anxiously for him to wake up.
As he slowly came to, Alex was met with a wave of pain. His head was throbbing, and his body felt like it had been put through a wringer.
He tried to move, but a sharp pain shot through his chest. Alex gasped, feeling a sense of panic wash over him.
"Hey, hey, it's okay," a soft voice said. "You're safe, Alex. You're in the hospital."
Alex turned his head, trying to see who was speaking to him. It was a nurse, with a kind face and a gentle smile.
"What...what happened?" Alex asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
The nurse hesitated, looking at him with a sympathetic expression. "You were in a car accident," she said gently. "You've been hurt pretty badly, but you're going to be okay."
Alex felt a wave of memories flood back. He remembered driving home from work, remembered seeing a car swerve into his lane...
And then nothing.
Alex's eyes filled with tears as he realized the extent of his injuries. He was hurt, really hurt. And it was all because of someone else's recklessness.
The nurse saw the tears in Alex's eyes and quickly grabbed a box of tissues. "Hey, it's okay," she said softly. "You're going to get through this. You're strong, Alex."
Alex nodded, feeling a sense of gratitude toward the nurse. She was kind and compassionate, and he appreciated her care.

But Alex was determined to get better. He worked hard in physical therapy, pushing himself to his limits every day.

And Alex realized that he wasn't alone. He had people who loved him, people who would help him through this difficult time.
