Drifting Toward Her

Siren's mind was in turmoil.

A lost kingdom. A ruler without a throne. A god without a name.

The elder's words refused to leave him, clawing at his thoughts like relentless waves against the shore. If he was never meant to be here, then where did he belong?

He had no answers. Only confusion, fear… and a growing emptiness inside him.

So he did the only thing he could.

He swam upward.

The crushing pressure of the depths faded as he broke through the surface, the cool night air hitting his skin. The world above was quiet, the stars flickering like distant memories.

And then—he saw her.

Standing at the water's edge, her bare feet sinking into the damp sand. The moonlight bathed her in a soft glow, making her look almost unreal.

She hugged herself against the cold, staring out at the waves.

She looked… lost.

Just like him.

Siren's breath hitched. He shouldn't be here. Not after what he had just learned. Not when his very existence was a mystery even to himself.

But he couldn't look away.

There was something about her—something that anchored him in a way nothing else did.

The ocean had obeyed him. The depths had whispered his name.

Yet right now, all he could think about was the human girl standing before him.

And for the first time in his life, he wanted to stay.
