My eyes shot open wide from hearing the sound of my alarm. The sound was loud, ringing throughout my entire room. I quickly got out of my bed and looked at my phone, which was on a small stand near my bed.
I grabbed my phone and saw the time was 8:00.
"Crap, I'm going be late on my first day of my second year of High school!" I yelled.
I quickly scramble around my room grabbing a shirt and pants from my closet, that was on the further side of my room.
"Suika, hurry up before you're late on your first day!" My mom yelled up the stairs. Hearing her voice sent a shiver down my spine and I began to move faster because of it. I grab my school jacket and put it on, right before leaving my room I grab my bag and head out.
I rushed down the stairs into the kitchen where I saw Mom cleaning the dishes. I looked at the table that was in the middle of the kitchen and saw my breakfast. It had two pieces of toast and eggs and bacon. I grabbed the two pieces of toast, putting one in my mouth.
"See ya mom, I'm off." I mumble with the toast in my mouth.
My mom waved her hand, still focusing on washing the dishes. I make my way to the door and open it.
I walked outside taking in the fresh air, it was nice and bright outside. The sun gleaming right down upon the streets with no clouds to cover it. I finished both pieces of the toast quickly and with that I began running to the school.
As I ran I checked the time on my phone and my eyes widened when I saw I had 9 minutes until the entrance ceremony.
"I better hurry, being late on the first day is not a good look for me."
I started to increase my pace, the school was only an 11 minute walk from my house so it wasn't that far. As I ran I looked up in the sky and saw people flying. Why couldn't I get wind magic? I would be flying to school right now and be there in an instant. I just shook my head and kept on running.
I finally stopped running, being in front of the school. Seeing the modern architecture and the wide landscape of the building. It had a big walk path to the front of the school, also the school crest was also on the walk path. The crest was a winged bird flying into the sun while leaves blew past it.
I looked down at my phone and saw that I had a minute left until the ceremony started. I rushed towards the gymnasium where the ceremony was taking place, the gym was on the outside part of the school and was a separate building. I entered the gymnasium and saw a bunch of chairs lined up in rows, it had to be around 15 rows with 30 chairs in each row.
I saw a chair open in the back and sat in it. As soon as I sat, the entrance ceremony started. I look up at the stage and see the principal Mr. Hajime standing at the podium and microphone pointing at him.
"Good morning everyone and welcome to Kyoto Magic school. I'll make this quick and short for everyone, this school isn't about grades but how someone uses their magic ability. Yes, academics is still good but magic is the main priority here. Teachers here will help you grow as a person but your abilities as well. If you're a freshman or a transfer student, get ready for a great ride because this school will push your limits." He smirked and looked out into the sea of students. He then cleared his throat.
"With that said I hope you all have a wonderful year, everyone is dismissed." He turns around and walks off the stage.
All the students began talking and getting up ready to head out of the gym. I sat there for a while, and I felt a bit anxious. New environment, new friends, new teachers…many unknown things. While I was contemplating, someone tapped me on my shoulder. I turn to my side and see a girl with short black hair, looking at me with a friendly gaze.
"Hey there! I see you're a second year." She said, pointed at my uniform and pointed at my crest that had Roman numeral II on it.
"I'm a second year also and you don't look familiar." She squinted her eyes, seeming to analyze me.
"I don't look familiar because I'm a transfer here." I replied
"Oh that's why, well it's nice to meet you, I'm Takamei."
Takamei extends her hand for a handshake, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. The chatter around me seems to fade into the background as I focus on this new acquaintance.
I look at her hand and bring my hand close and shake hers.
"I'm Suika, Suika Fukumoto." I stopped shaking her hand and put my hand back to my side.
"Hey since you are new here, you should stick around with me. I can show you around if you'd like?" She asked.
"Yeah sure, I would like that."
So we got up from our seats and walked out of the gym. We began walking through the halls of the school and Takamei told me about each of the classes we passed.
She talked with so much passion and she always had a smile on her face. Seeming to be enjoying the moment we are having right now. After some time we made it back to the first floor where there were a bunch of students crowding a board.
"Why is everyone here? Is there something on that board?" I asked and turned to Takamei.
"That board shows what homeroom class you're going to be in." She grabs my hand and pull me towards the board, she pushed us through the crowd of students and now we stand right in front of the board,
I looked up and down for my name and I saw that I was going to be in class 2-C. I turned to look at Takamei who was still looking for her name.
"Takamei, I got class 2-C as my homeroom. What class did you get?"
She keeps on looking until her mouth opens a little and she points her finger at the board.
"I got 2-B! But we're going to be in different homerooms." She pouts. "Are you going to be ok by yourself?"
"Yea i'll be fine, thanks for showing me around Takamei. I'll see you around." I smiled.
She nodded her head and we both parted ways. I headed to my homeroom 2-C that was on the second floor. I get to the classroom and slide open the door, as I step in I see the classroom was basically full.
Most of the students already found their seats and were chatting with each other, some of them were staring at me for a bit but then turned back to talking. It was a bit embarrassing to be stared at, but I can't really do anything about it. I looked around and found a seat near the window and put my backpack on the ground next to the desk and sat down.
I look around seeing the people talk, seeming like they knew each other from their freshman year of this school. While I was alone with nobody to even talk to. But a thought ran through my mind.
I wonder what kind of abilities all these people possess? Is it strong or weak? Well I can't wait to see them in action.
