As my mind still wanders about the students of this class, the door slides open once more and the teacher begins to walk in.
He has a tall frame, with short white hair. Wearing a Tailcoat with purple cloud designs on the side of it and having the Roman numeral XI on the top right on the tailcoat, with long black pants on with dark purple dress shoes.
The teacher walks in front of the class and clears his throat. Everyone began to sit down and pay attention towards him.
"Good morning, class 2-C. I am Professor Amane, and I'll be your homeroom teacher for this year. I trust that you all had an amazing and productive summer break and are ready to embark on this new academic journey."
He pauses and looks around the class, seeing all the students and probably analyzing each and every single one of us. His gaze lands upon me, a knowing glint flickers in his eyes.
"Ok, now that you all may have noticed this school is very unique. Not only do we prioritize traditional academics, but we also nurture and develop magical abilities. I expect each of you to strive for excellence in both areas."
The class seems to fall silent, all of us feeling the weight and pressure behind his words. It's clear now that this school really does take magic seriously, probably to the extreme. I wonder how I would fit in with this new environment.
As I'm still collecting my thoughts, a student from across the class raises their hand.
"Professor Amane, what are we going to learn in this class?"
He looks towards the student and acknowledges the question. He goes over to his desk, his tailcoat swishing softly with each step. He sat on the desk and fixed his eyes onto the student.
"Ah, I was kinda waiting for someone to ask me that." He chuckled a little. "As I said earlier, this school focuses on both traditional academics and magical development. Within my class you all will be learning the fundamentals of magic, spell casting, and magical history."
He turns his focus back to the whole class.
"Magic is not just about power or ability. It's about understanding oneself and one's place in the world. In this class, you'll learn to harness your magical potential, but more importantly, you'll learn about yourselves."
He then turns his gaze towards me and smirks.
"I have a feeling some of y'all are going to change the world for the better."
He hops off his desk and steps back in front of the class.
"Well then let's get class started, shall we?"
He turns to the board behind him and picks up a marker, he writes the word "magic" in big words. He turns back to us and taps the marker on the board.
"Magic, the physical manifestation of one's energy within them. A power that is so otherworldly that you couldn't fathom the possibility of it being real. But it is real and is in every single one of us." He writes on the board five different categories of magic.
"First we have Healing/life magic. Magic that can heal a person's wounds or even restore a body part with enough training and skill. Second is Hardening, reflectness, and light magic. These three are a part of the same set, with Hardening being the most common and light magic being the rarest. Third is Sky/Air magic. A person with this could have Rain magic, snow magic, Lighting magic, Hail magic, Wind magic anything that is related to the sky or to air. Fourth is Earth magic, simple enough to know, you may control the ground beneath you, may also have Fire, Water, Sand magic or even control the forests. Fifth and final is Star magic… Nothing's known about this power, we just know you gain some form of cosmic power." He then lets out a breath, seeming to be exhausted from explaining all of that.
As he was about to speak again the bell rings, indicating that this class period is over. Time really went fast in this class, look around and see everyone grabbing their stuff and getting ready to leave. I also do the same. The next period I had was P.E and it was normal.
The teacher was a big old grumpy man, with hair basically non-existent and was already bossing us around. Making us do 40 laps around the school, while he just sat down on a chair and read a magazine.
After a painful hour of that it was lunch time. I changed back into my school clothes in the locker room and headed back outside. I went towards the huge field we had, it was like the size of an American football field. I see other people hanging around here eating their lunch, I went towards one of the steps near the field and sat. I took the lunch I made just the night before.
It was just a normal sandwich but that will help through the day. As I am beginning to eat I hear students yelling at each other, I look over at the field and see two male students staring each other down, probably about to fight.
Does this school allow fights or something? Cause this could get out of hand in a second.
The boy to the right raises his hand and a small flame of cracking energy forms in his palm. While the boy to the right summons a shimmering shield in front of him. Earth magic vs Hardening Magic.
Then the boy to the right starts launching his flames at the other boy. But he blocks the flame attack with his shield.
He starts to charge at the boy with his shield, the distance between them getting shorter.
Flame user decided to attack back by shooting flame-like bullets from his fingertips. The bullets just bounce off the shield, he smacks them away and even parries one, sending it back to flame user.
He dodges his own flame bullet but as soon as he turns back around the shield user is right there ready to hit him. He quickly puts his hands together and a ball of flames appears in his palms, then launches a potent beam composed of concentrated fire.
Shield user puts up his shield in an instant and the fire beam clashes with the shield at close range. The impact sends a shockwave rippling through the air, and I can feel the surge of energy wash over me. This battle was really exhilarating, I had so much fun watching it.
The fight seemed like it was coming to an end after that clash. As I take another bite of my sandwich I hear a strong voice next to me.
"You seem to be enjoying this lousy show."
I look to my left and see a boy sitting on the railing. A boy with short black hair with a fringe that joins at the center of his face. He has narrow gray eyes that seem intimidating.
"Hey! This fight isn't lousy, it's pretty fun and exciting. Seeing Earth magic go against Hardening magic is really cool." I protested.
He chuckles at my words softly, his eyes glinting with a hint of mischief.
"Fun and exciting, huh? I guess I can see why you'd think that. But trust me, these kinds of showings are a dime a dozen around here. They always start around the beginning of the year."
He then points his thumb at himself, a smirk playing on his lips.
"I'm Ryusei, by the way. I'm in class 2-C with you. Guess we'll be seeing a lot of each other."
"I'm Suika, and I guess you'll be right about that." I replied.
I turn my attention back to the field and see the fighting has come to an abrupt end. Both students are panting heavily, their magical aura flickering in and out. They both exchange a nod of respect to one other before heading in separate directions
"What, that's it?! I'd said
"See what I mean? Just a normal thing at this school." He says, as he shrugs.
"That came to such a disappointing end, I was kinda getting excited too." I sigh sadly.
Ryusei raises an eyebrow at my reaction, a hint of amusement in his eyes. He chuckles, shaking his head slightly.
"You're an interesting one Suika, aren't you? Most people here would be relieved that the fight ended without any serious injuries. But you, you're actually disappointed. I like that."
He hops off the railing and takes a step closer to me, his eyes gleam with a hint of a crazy idea. He points towards the now empty field.
"You know we have a lot of time before lunch ends. If you are so disappointed about that fight, why don't you and me go round Suika?"
I took the last bite of my sandwich and I stood up, standing face to face with him. I smirk at him.
"You're on Ryusei! You'll be the first one here, I will show my strength too."
"I feel honored to be the first, and the first to kick your ass."
"Don't get too excited now, I won't go down so easily."
"I like that spirit of yours, I hope it can stay strong in this battle."
We both nodded to each other and headed down the steps towards the field. Some students see us going to the field and start to pay attention again, wondering how this battle will turn out.
