Chapter 31: The Truth Unveiled

"I don't know why Miss Jiang called us here today. What's the matter?"

A shareholder's expression was grim as he glanced at Jiang Zhiyu.

Jiang Zhiyu, dressed in a sharp blue suit, her face cold and composed, swept her gaze across the room. "If I called everyone here, it's obviously for something important."

She paused before continuing, her tone unwavering. "Over the past two days, I had someone investigate this batch of computers. What we found was... rather interesting."

The room fell silent.

"As you all know, our company's cooperation with Lenovo was facilitated by a businessman named Li Zhou. Mr. Wu," she turned her sharp gaze to Wu Bin, "I discovered that you are quite familiar with Li Zhou. In fact, you've even shared drinks together."

With that, she pulled out a photograph, placing it on the table for everyone to see. In the picture, Wu Bin and Li Zhou were seen drinking together.

Wu Bin, however, seemed unfazed. He let out a chuckle and leaned back in his chair. "Miss Jiang, I've known President Li for a long time. Is it a crime to share a drink with an old acquaintance?"

Wang Yuheng, who was seated nearby, spoke up as well. "Zhiyu, you're not suggesting that Wu Bin had a hand in this Lenovo deal, are you?"

The moment the words left his mouth, the entire room stirred.

"Miss Jiang, don't you think you're being overly suspicious? Mr. Wu is a senior executive in our company!"

"Is she trying to push President Wu out now that President Jiang is gone?"

"A mere photo doesn't prove anything!"

Jiang Zhiyu remained unfazed as she smiled faintly. "Of course, a photo alone isn't enough evidence. But you might want to take a look at these documents."

She gestured to her secretary, who promptly distributed files to everyone.

As soon as Wu Bin saw the contents, his expression darkened.

The other shareholders flipped through the documents, frowning in confusion. They looked up, waiting for an explanation.

"Do you all remember Liu Chaodong?" Jiang Zhiyu asked. "Before he resigned under pressure, he was the manager of our company's quality inspection department. It was through him that this batch of Lenovo computers passed inspection."

Wu Bin's palms grew sweaty at the mention of Liu Chaodong.

Noticing his reaction, a shareholder beside him quickly spoke up, trying to divert attention. "Liu Chaodong has already resigned. What exactly are you trying to imply, Miss Jiang?"

Jiang Zhiyu's tone remained calm as she continued, "After Liu Chaodong resigned, he immediately took his father-in-law to the United States for heart bypass surgery. As we all know, such a procedure costs at least hundreds of thousands of dollars. Given his salary as a manager, how could he possibly afford it?"

She paused, letting her words sink in before delivering the final blow. "After investigating further, I discovered that shortly after his resignation, someone transferred 500,000 yuan into Liu Chaodong's account. And that account belongs to none other than Wu Bin's cousin."

The room erupted into an uproar.

"I'm shocked! Did Wu Bin really orchestrate this whole thing?"

"No way! Why would he betray his own company?"

"Is this about power…?"

Wu Bin felt cold sweat trickling down his back. When he arranged everything, he had erased all traces of evidence. Was Jiang Zhiyu bluffing?

A moment later, he composed himself and let out a laugh.

"Zhiyu, that account does belong to my cousin," he admitted.

The room fell into a stunned silence.

Wu Bin, however, remained unfazed. He had prepared for this day long ago. With a confident smile, he continued, "But Miss Jiang, you've misunderstood the situation. My cousin runs a business that manufactures computer parts. He happens to have business dealings with Liu Chaodong's brother. A while ago, Liu's brother's computer broke down, and my cousin transferred the money to cover the repair costs."

Several shareholders nodded in agreement.

"Oh, so that's what happened. This has nothing to do with President Wu after all."

"Exactly! Just a misunderstanding!"

"Miss Jiang, if there's nothing else, I'll be leaving. Our department is still trying to find buyers for those 20,000 computers," said the business department head—one of Wu Bin's trusted associates.

Jiang Zhiyu's expression darkened. She turned to him, her gaze piercing. "The meeting isn't over yet. Who dares to leave?"

The department head opened his mouth but quickly closed it, feeling the weight of her words.

At that moment, Wang Yuheng intervened. "Zhiyu, if you're accusing Wu Bin of something this serious, you need solid evidence."

Wu Bin, now visibly more relaxed, crossed his legs. "Exactly. If you have no proof, then this conversation is over."

Jiang Zhiyu remained silent as she pulled out her phone. "You'll have your proof soon enough. Listen carefully."

She pressed play.

A conversation began to play, filling the tense room.

"Old Liu, I heard your father-in-law hasn't been doing well lately. You seem quite stressed."

It was Wu Bin's voice.

"Yeah… his heart condition has worsened recently. My wife keeps insisting we take him to the U.S. for surgery..."

Hearing Liu Chaodong's voice, Wu Bin's face turned pale.

The recording continued.

"It's not cheap to get surgery in the U.S. If you're struggling financially, I can help you out," Wu Bin's voice said.

"Mr. Wu, just be direct."

"I don't need you to do much. Just turn a blind eye to the Lenovo computers. In return, I'll give you this amount..."

The room fell into dead silence.

Every shareholder turned their gaze toward Wu Bin—sharp, accusatory, and unwavering.

Wu Bin felt his entire body go cold.

This was checkmate.
