A Peaceful Life Begins to Be Disturbed

The next morning, the sun slowly rose, bathing the small village in warm golden light. Feng Tian sat on the porch of his house, enjoying a freshly brewed cup of herbal tea. His face looked calm, like someone without a single burden in this world.

Beside him, Hei Wu stood silently, gazing toward the forest that stretched in the distance. Yet, though he appeared calm, his sharp eyes constantly observed the surroundings.

"Master, after what happened yesterday, I believe they will return with more people," Hei Wu said in a composed tone.

Feng Tian smiled lightly. "If they dare to return, I'll just drive them away again."

"But, Master…" Hei Wu lowered his head. "If you reveal too much of your power, not only bandits will come. This world still remembers who you are. If traces of your heavenly power are sensed, the remaining gods—or even rulers of the underworld—might get involved."

Feng Tian merely sipped his tea slowly. "Hei Wu, remember, I descended into this world not to fight. I want a peaceful life. If they come… just think of it as morning exercise."

Hei Wu fell silent. As the most loyal subordinate and the strongest war god, he was always ready to eliminate any enemy. But he knew well his master's sincere wish: peace, something he had never found in the heavens.

In the days following the bandit incident, the villagers began to show extraordinary respect toward Feng Tian and Hei Wu.

Village Chief Liu even came early in the morning carrying a basket of fresh vegetables.

"This… this is a small gift from us, as a thank-you for saving the village," said the chief in a respectful voice.

Feng Tian smiled. "Thank you, but there's no need to trouble yourselves. I only did what had to be done."

However, the chief insisted on leaving the basket, saying, "If you need anything, anything at all, don't hesitate. This village owes you our lives."

After the chief left, Hei Wu glanced at Feng Tian. "Master, it seems your wish for a quiet life is starting to be disturbed."

Feng Tian only chuckled. "Let it be. As long as they don't become a bother, I'm happy to help."

But that peace did not last long.

A few days later, as the sun was setting and the sky was covered in golden-orange hues, a group of horses arrived from the direction of the forest.

Dozens of armed men clad in black armor, their faces scarred and fierce. In the midst of them, a middle-aged man in a luxurious maroon robe, looked arrogant and proud.

"Who drove my men away?!" he shouted loudly as he arrived in the middle of the village.

The villagers were terrified, peeking from behind their doors and windows.

Feng Tian, who had just returned from fishing by the river, looked at the scene calmly.

The maroon-robed man glared at Feng Tian with disdain. "So, you're the tough guy here? Do you know who I am? I am a commander of the Black Family, owners of this entire forest region!"

Hei Wu, standing behind Feng Tian, immediately glared sharply at them, but Feng Tian raised his hand, signaling him not to act rashly.

"And what do you want, coming here with all these troops?" Feng Tian asked calmly.

The man snorted. "I came to claim my rights. This village is mine. If you want to live, kneel and surrender, or else—"

Before he could finish his sentence, a strong wind suddenly blew.

THUD!

In an instant, his body was thrown dozens of meters, crashing into a large tree trunk until it cracked.

All his troops fell silent, their faces pale.

Hei Wu glared coldly. "You dare speak like that in front of my Master? Do you want to live or die?"

The man struggled to rise, his body trembling in fear. "I-I didn't know who you were… p-please forgive me… have mercy…"

Feng Tian walked over slowly, looking at the man with a faint smile. "I don't like violence. But if you disturb this village again… I won't be as kind as I am today."

The man nodded frantically, then shouted in panic to his troops. "Quick! Let's get out of here!"

In moments, the group disappeared from sight.

The villagers, who had been peeking, began to come out one by one, looking at Feng Tian with even greater awe and respect.

The next morning, while Feng Tian was sitting in front of his house grilling fish, Hei Wu stood beside him, gazing toward the village.

"Master, are you aware that your name is beginning to spread?"

Feng Tian raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"

"People are starting to call you the 'Guardian Deity of the Village,' and rumor has it they believe you're an immortal warrior descended from the heavens."

Feng Tian only laughed. "Ah, they're exaggerating. I'm just an ordinary person who wants to live peacefully."

Hei Wu looked at his master with an indescribable expression. "Ordinary person? You could destroy the world with a snap of your fingers…"

But he said nothing.

In the distance, farmers began working in the fields, occasionally glancing toward Feng Tian's house with admiration. Children who were usually afraid of strangers now began approaching his house out of curiosity.

Feng Tian only smiled warmly. "Maybe, life in this world won't be too boring…"

However, without his knowledge, far beyond the village, news of a mysterious god protecting a village had begun to spread widely—and was starting to attract the attention of beings from other realms.
