Chapter 4:Rexxxxxx!!!!!

The fire in the central area of Pallet Town raged on, thick plumes of smoke curling into the night sky. The heat radiated across the streets, and the chaos of shouting officers and panicking townspeople filled the air.

Rex stood in the middle of it all, his body now towering and covered in jagged ice crystals. His form shimmered under the moonlight as his yellow dots glowed ominously. Everyone stared at him, mouths agape, except for Oak and Daisy, who were more stunned by the fact that Rex had transformed into Regice, a Legendary Pokémon.

"H-He turned into a Regice?!" an officer stammered, rubbing his eyes as if trying to confirm what he was seeing.

"This… This is insane!" another yelled.

Jenny's eyes narrowed as she tried to process the situation. "We'll deal with the human-turning-into-Pokémon thing later!" she shouted to her squad. "For now, give him room!"

Rex's glowing yellow eyes focused on the rampaging Druddigon, whose black aura pulsed and flickered, making the dragon thrash violently. Its red eyes were full of rage and pain.

'It's in pain,' Rex thought, his chest tightening. 'Whatever this dark aura is, it's hurting it.'

"BLIZZARD!" Rex's voice echoed with a metallic tone as his arms extended forward.

A freezing wind erupted from his body, white shards of ice swirling violently through the streets. The intense cold extinguished the raging fires, leaving behind a layer of frost and ice over the once-burning debris. The sudden drop in temperature caused everyone to shiver as the misty frost cleared.

Druddigon roared as the dark aura around it surged, melting the ice at its feet with a hiss of steam. The black energy pulsed violently as it locked its blood-red eyes on Rex.

Oak stepped forward. "Rex, if you can knock it out, I'll throw a Pokéball!" he shouted. "We need to stop it before that dark energy brings it back!"

"Got it!" Rex's dots flared brightly as he slid toward Druddigon on a path of ice forming beneath his feet.

Daisy's eyes widened. "He's using the ice as a makeshift platform! That's… actually genius!"

Rex grinned under his icy shell. 'Regice is slow, but if I can create my own footing…' He propelled himself faster, zig-zagging across the frozen street as Druddigon roared and lunged forward.

"DRAGON RAGE!"

A swirling blast of crimson energy shot from Druddigon's mouth, heading straight for Rex.

"Icy Wind!" Rex shouted.

A burst of icy air blasted from his hand, colliding with the Dragon Rage mid-air. Frost exploded outward as the two attacks neutralized each other, sending shimmering ice crystals raining down.

Druddigon charged again, its claws glowing with Dragon Claw. Rex braced himself as the claws struck his icy frame—only for the impact to do almost nothing.

'Regice's defenses are insane!' Rex thought with satisfaction.

"ICE BEAM!"

A concentrated beam of frigid blue energy shot from Rex's hands at point-blank range. Druddigon howled in agony as the beam struck its chest, frost crawling across its scales.

'Just hold on… I know it hurts, but I'm going to help you.'

The frost thickened, spreading from Druddigon's chest to its limbs. Its movements slowed as the cold overtook it. Finally, with one last roar, Druddigon's body went limp as ice crystals formed over its scales.

Oak's eyes sharpened. "Now!"

A Pokéball shot from Oak's hand, spinning through the air before striking Druddigon's side. The ball snapped open, pulling the frozen dragon inside in a flash of red light. The ball hit the ground and shook once… twice… click!

Rex's eyes widened as the familiar beeping sound of the Poketrix filled the air. His body glowed faintly before the icy armor of Regice shattered into shimmering fragments of light. Within seconds, Rex stood back in his normal clothes, slightly breathless.

'What the hell? It's only been five minutes!' Rex glanced down at the Poketrix on his chest, his brows furrowing. 'Why did it cut off early?'

Oak approached, his expression thoughtful as he held the Pokéball containing Druddigon. Daisy followed closely behind him, her eyes fixed on Rex.

Oak studied the Poketrix with a sharp gaze. "Legendary Pokémon are legendary for a reason," he said. "If the transformation ended after only five minutes, it means that your ability to transform into Legendary Pokémon is more taxing than normal Pokémon."

"So… Legendary forms only last five minutes?" Rex asked, his tone uncertain.

Oak nodded. "It makes sense. Legendary Pokémon have greater power, so the energy drain would naturally be higher. Normal Pokémon transformations lasting ten minutes seems reasonable, but five minutes might be the limit for Legendary forms."

Rex sighed and rubbed the back of his head. "Well… that's annoying."

"Annoying or not, you handled it well," Oak said, slipping the Pokéball into his coat pocket. "But this dark aura… That's something we'll need to investigate."

Rex nodded but then stiffened as he noticed Officer Jenny walking toward him, her expression sharp and no-nonsense. His stomach sank.

Jenny stopped in front of him, arms crossed. "I'm thankful for your help, Rex. If it weren't for you, Druddigon would have done even more damage."

Rex exhaled, relieved. "Glad I could help—"

"But."

Rex froze. "But?"

Jenny's eyes narrowed. "You're still coming with me to the station. We need to have a serious conversation about this… transformation business."

Rex winced. "Uh… Yeah, figured that was coming."

Daisy chuckled, arms crossed as she smirked at him. "Who was it that shouted 'Screw secrecy!' moments before?"

Rex shot her a glare. "Oh, come on—cut me some slack!"

Daisy winked. "Nope. You brought this on yourself."

Rex groaned. 'Yeah… this is going to be a long night.'

The scene shifted to the police station, where the atmosphere was tense. Inside Officer Jenny's office, only Rex, Daisy, Oak, and Jenny were present. The matter of the Poketrix's origin was too sensitive, so the other officers had been kept out of the loop. To everyone else, Rex's transformation remained a mystery.

Jenny leaned back in her chair, sighing heavily as she rubbed her temples. "This just opened up a whole new case…" she muttered. Her brows furrowed as she continued, "Team Rocket trying to locate the Poketrix, the rampaging Druddigon, and this unknown dark aura… These three things are likely connected."

Oak nodded thoughtfully, his hands clasped behind his back. "The dark aura seems to be feeding off the Pokémon's rage and pain, amplifying its strength while rapidly healing any damage it takes. But the cost…" His face darkened. "Unbearable pain, uncontrollable rage, and complete loss of mental stability, leaving only destruction in its wake."

Daisy clasped her hands together, her eyes wide with concern. "But… can Druddigon recover from this?"

Oak sighed. "I'll have to study it further. Nurse Joy's expertise might be necessary to stabilize Druddigon and cleanse whatever this dark aura is."

Rex suddenly slammed his fist into his palm, his eyes narrowing in determination. "Since Team Rocket targeted Pallet Town, they're still after the Poketrix." He turned toward Jenny, his gaze sharp. "I'm helping with this case. I'll bring Team Rocket down!"

Daisy's eyes widened. "Rex, this is dangerous! Just because you have the Poketrix doesn't make you invincible. What if they catch you off guard when the timer runs out?"

Rex's expression hardened. "Then I'll train harder. I'll get stronger. Not just with the Poketrix — I'll catch my own Pokémon and build a strong team. I'll push the limits of the Poketrix so I can extend the transformation time."

Jenny studied him silently for a moment, her sharp blue eyes considering his resolve. Finally, she smiled faintly. "Alright… I'll accept your help."

Rex grinned. "Good."

"But," Jenny added, her eyes gleaming mischievously, "you'll have to follow my orders."

Rex nodded. "Fine by me."

Jenny's smile widened. "Then welcome to the team."

Rex blinked. "Wait… what team?"

Jenny's smile turned sly. "Congratulations, Rex. You're now a part-time officer of the Pallet Town Police."

Rex's jaw dropped. "Wait, what?! I never agreed to that!"

Jenny stood up, brushing off her uniform. "Too late. Paperwork's already being filed."

"You didn't even have any paperwork!" Rex shouted comically.

Jenny shrugged. "It's implied."

"Don't just change the subject!" Rex yelled, flailing his arms.

Thwack!

"Ow!" Rex clutched his head, a large bump already forming as Daisy pulled her hand back.

Daisy smiled sweetly at Jenny. "Sorry about that. He's still learning manners."

Rex twitched on the ground, rubbing his head. "Where… where did all that strength come from?"

Jenny chuckled. "You've got a good right hook, Daisy. Ever considered a career in law enforcement?"

Oak sweatdropped, rubbing the back of his neck as a flood of old memories resurfaced. He couldn't help but recall all the times Agatha had hit him for doing something foolish in his youth. 'Looks like Daisy inherited Agatha's punching strength… poor Rex.'

His eyes twinkled as a more amusing thought crossed his mind. 'Agatha hit me plenty of times before we got together. Maybe this is a good sign for Rex and Daisy… if they follow the same path, this might just be Rex's first test.'

Oak nodded to himself sagely.

Rex, still twitching on the floor, shivered. "Why… why do I feel like my future is doomed?"

The scene shifted toward Team Rocket's base, where the atmosphere was heavy with tension.

Giovanni stood behind a large, dark mahogany desk, his hands pressed firmly against the polished surface. His piercing eyes glared down at the rocket grunt kneeling before him, trembling under the weight of his boss's fury.

"What did you say?" Giovanni's voice was dangerously low, carrying a quiet menace.

The grunt swallowed hard, sweat trickling down his forehead. "Th-The attack… it failed, sir…"

Giovanni's eyes narrowed dangerously. "Failed?" His voice was calm, but the underlying threat was palpable.

The grunt's hands trembled as he forced himself to continue. "Rex… he… he transformed into a Regice and stopped Druddigon."

CRACK!

Giovanni's hands slammed down on the desk so hard that the wood creaked under the pressure. His expression darkened, his eyes burning with cold fury.

"Regice?" Giovanni's voice dropped to a growl.

"Y-Yes, sir," the grunt stammered.

Giovanni's teeth clenched, his face twisting into a snarl.

Suddenly, his anger exploded.

"REXXXXXX!!!" Giovanni roared, his voice echoing through the dark chamber. The grunt flinched as Giovanni's rage filled the room like a suffocating pressure.

The storm brewing in Giovanni's eyes promised that this wasn't over. Not by a long shot.
