"Aurora, how's the office?" Giselle asked. With nothing as exciting as their stories, and just work, Aurora replied, "It's going smooth as usual. I have a 10:30 PM US call to attend and need to prepare a few documents for it. I'll leave now, bye." She hung up. Giselle and Ivy exchanged a few more words before ending their call as well.
Aurora sat back in her chair, feeling a familiar emptiness wash over her. She felt bored, constantly tethered to her desk, working day and night. She glanced at the clock, sighing, she walked to the window, resting her forehead against the cool glass. The moon, distant and cold, seemed to reflect the loneliness she couldn't shake. She longed for something more than just work, but the silence reminded her of how often she felt alone, even when surrounded by tasks.

The very next day, Ivy Goldenshield was determined to woo Dominic Carrington. A handsome gentleman, he was, and his wealth only added to the allure, by about 10%. After her duty call, she searched for him, but he was nowhere to be found. Day after day, she looked for him, only to come up empty-handed. This went on for three or four days, and frustration started to build.
Finally, she approached one of her seniors. "Do you know where I can find Dr. Dominic? I have a few doubts," she asked.
"Oh, Dr. Dominic is out of station for a week, I think. Is there anything I can help with?" he replied.
Ivy hesitated before denying his offer. "No, that's alright. I'll ask him when he gets back. So, why is he out?"
Her curiosity was quickly answered when he replied, "I think he's out of town to attend his girlfriend's graduation, or at least that's what I heard."
Ivy felt a pang in her chest. Thanking him for the information, she headed back to her dorm, her heart a little heavier. Handsome good guys are always taken, she thought bitterly. I was a fool to chase after him.
