"Dante Blackwood, right?" Evelyn asked Zane.
"What?" Aurora asked, confused.
Assuming she hadn't heard, Zane explained, "Evelyn is new, right.. She was asking what the CEO's name was."
"No, I'm asking, what did you say his name was?" Aurora pressed.
"Dante Blackwood! How can you not know your company's CEO's name?!" Zane scolded her, incredulous.
Aurora frowned. "No, not that. Now that I hear it... it seems familiar. Where have I heard that name?"
"OFFICE!" Ronan said, his voice flat. "Where else would you hear it? Maybe in the news, but you don't watch the news."
What Ronan said made sense. She turned back to Dante, watching how easily he got along with everyone around him. She was genuinely impressed with how effortlessly he connected with people, his social skills on full display. It was clear that he wasn't just the CEO but he was someone who truly understood how to relate to others.
They had all enjoyed a fun conversation and then returned to their rooms to rest as it had been a long day. Aurora waved goodbye to her friends and made her way back to her room. Being cautious was second nature to her, so she followed her usual routine when staying in a hotel. She pushed the door fully open before entering. However, she immediately felt resistance, as though someone was behind the door.
Without alerting the stranger, she stepped back slightly and pretended to be on a call. She quickly banged on the door, trying room 4001 for help. There was no response from the other side. Thankfully, after the afternoon's incident, she had noted down the registration desk's contact number. She messaged them first, then made a quick call.
Sensing something was off, the stranger moved quickly, lunging toward her. Before she could react, he grabbed her, pulling her inside and locking the door behind them.
