Both women were momentarily starstruck. "Huh? Me?" Giselle squeaked, her voice high-pitched and flustered.
To patch things up, Victor quickly added, "It's okay, babe. We can reveal our romantic relationship to Sophia now. Remember, I told you about the girl who's been chasing me to marry her, but I wasn't interested?" He subtly dropped hints for Giselle to catch on.
Giselle's mind raced as she processed the chaotic situation unfolding before her. She had never signed up for any of this drama, but now she had no choice but to play along. She forced a graceful smile at Sophia, doing her best to stay calm.
Sophia, on the other hand, wasn't backing down. "What's so special about her, Victor? Reconsider your choice, please," she demanded.
Victor stood firm, his voice unwavering. "Sorry, I've already made my decision. There has never been a woman in my life, but if I fall in love, it will only be with her. I'll love her and die with her memory." His words were sincere, as if every fiber of his being meant it.
Giselle's heart skipped a beat as she watched him, but she held herself together. "Please, leave my cabin now. There's nothing more to discuss. The decision is final," Victor added firmly.
Sophia's face turned red with fury. "Fine! You won't get any support from LuxVibe Couture from now on!" she spat as she stormed out of the room.
"We don't need LuxVibe Couture. It was just a backup plan for the fashion industry, anyway," he muttered, brushing off the threat.
But Giselle wasn't paying attention to his words. Her eyes were locked on the hand Victor still had gripping hers, and she couldn't help but feel uncomfortable. "Can you please let me go, Mr. Victor Caldwell?" she asked, her voice quiet but firm.
Victor's demeanor shifted instantly. His commanding, cold persona crumbled, replaced by something softer, apologetic. "I'm sorry for causing you trouble," he said, his voice laced with regret.
Giselle gave him a small, neutral smile. "We're even now. I caused trouble for you once too. Let's not feel guilty about it," she said, her tone cool and collected.
She strode confidently toward the door. "I'll take my leave now," she added, walking out of his office without looking back.
