Lingering Embarrassment
Renji barely slept that night.
Every time he closed his eyes, he replayed the scene in his head—Asuka's bright smile, her casual pat on the shoulder, and worst of all…
"Took you long enough! I do work hard keeping you guys in line."
Renji groaned, burying his face into his pillow.
He had completely messed up.
Why couldn't I just say it properly?
For the longest time, he had convinced himself that his feelings didn't matter. That as long as he focused on volleyball, everything else would fall into place.
But Yuuto's words kept ringing in his ears:
"Figure it out. Before it gets worse."
Renji finally understood what Yuuto meant. He couldn't keep hesitating.
Not just with Asuka, but everything.

Facing the Court Again
The next morning, the team was back in the gym.
The intensity of their last match still lingered, but instead of resting on their victory, Coach Fujimoto pushed them harder.
"We're aiming for regionals. If you want to win, stop playing like you're satisfied."
Renji wiped sweat from his forehead, glancing across the court.
Yuuto was playing as sharp as ever, leading the offense with pinpoint tosses. Asuka was on the sidelines, calling out rotations and checking on players.
It hit Renji then—just how much they had all grown.
But he couldn't stay stuck anymore.

Renji's Resolve
After practice, Renji found Yuuto near the lockers, towel draped around his shoulders.
"Yuuto."
Yuuto glanced at him. "What?"
Renji exhaled. "About Asuka…"
Yuuto didn't say anything, waiting.
Renji clenched his fists. "No matter what happens, whether I figure things out or not… we need to work together if we want to win regionals."
Yuuto studied him for a long moment.
Then, to Renji's surprise, he smiled.
"About time you figured that out."
Renji blinked. "Wait. You're not going to lecture me?"
Yuuto shrugged. "Nah. You're still an idiot, but at least you're trying now."
Renji let out a short laugh. "Thanks, I guess."
Yuuto smirked. "Don't thank me yet. We still have a lot of work to do."
Renji nodded.
He didn't have all the answers yet. He still had feelings to figure out, challenges to face.
But for the first time, he wasn't afraid to move forward.
