Kai said, "Okay, then I'll wait for what you've prepared for me."
"No problem," Tony replied confidently.
A few days later, Tony asked again, and Kai felt it was time to check on Yinsen. He didn't want to just leave him with the Ancient One indefinitely.
This time, Kai went to Tony's villa and brought him along. He figured the Ancient One wouldn't mind… right? It should be fine. Ever since Kai's first visit, the Ancient One didn't seem too concerned with what Kai did.
Using a portal from the New York Sanctum, they arrived at Kamar-Taj.
Instead of seeking out the Ancient One, Kai took Tony directly to the courtyard where Yinsen and the other students were practicing magic.
When Tony saw Yinsen skillfully drawing circles in the air with his hands — opening a shimmering, golden portal that revealed a distant landscape — his jaw nearly hit the floor.
"Oh my god, Kai, did you see that? Yinsen's actually using magic!" Tony's voice rose with excitement as he attempted to mimic Yinsen's circular hand gestures.
Tony waved his arms around for a while, but nothing happened. He finally gave up, lowering his hands in frustration. Just then, Yinsen noticed Tony's clumsy attempt and walked over, smiling.
"Hey Tony, what are you doing here?"
"Of course I came to check if my savior had wandered off and forgotten to come home." Tony's tone carried a hint of mock annoyance.
Yinsen chuckled. "Relax, Tony. I'm here with the Ancient One's permission. Without it, I wouldn't even be able to stay."
After Tony's half-hearted grumbling subsided, Yinsen turned to Kai with excitement.
"Kai, did you see me using portal magic earlier?"
"Of course," Kai said with a smile. "I didn't expect you to learn so quickly, Yinsen. It's only been a few days, and you're already doing this?"
"Master Mordo says I've got some talent," Yinsen said proudly. "I've even started learning other spells too."
Kai was glad he'd encouraged Yinsen to study magic. Not only was Yinsen interested, but he clearly had an aptitude for it as well.
While they talked, Mordo approached and greeted Kai. The Ancient One had already introduced Mordo to Kai during his last visit.
"Kai, you're here to see Yinsen? Don't worry, he's making excellent progress," Mordo said.
"Yeah, I wanted to check in on him — and I brought a friend along to see his progress. That's alright, isn't it?"
Before Mordo could respond, the Ancient One's voice echoed in their ears:
"Of course, Mordo. Continue with the training — let our guests observe."
Mordo nodded. "Yes, Master."
Then the Ancient One's voice spoke directly to Kai:
"Kai, come to the room we met in last time. I have something to discuss with you."
Kai turned to Tony. "Go hang out with Yinsen and the others for a bit. Watch the magic up close — you'll love it."
Tony was still curious. "Hey, Yinsen, what was that voice just now?"
"Oh, that's the Sorcerer Supreme."
"And what exactly is a Sorcerer Supreme?"
"This… might take a while to explain."
Meanwhile, Kai met the Ancient One in the same room as before.
"Kai," the Ancient One began, "since you knew things about me before we met, I wonder — how much do you know about Asgard?"
"Asgard?" Kai asked.
The Ancient One nodded. "Yes."
Kai thought for a moment. "I know a few things about them — but not everything. Why do you ask?"
The Ancient One smiled faintly. "It's not what I want to do, but what Odin wants to do."
Kai's mind raced. 'Thor's exile? But isn't that still a few months away? Why now?'
"You really do know something, don't you?" the Ancient One said, noticing his expression.
Kai just chuckled, deciding to stay quiet.
The Ancient One continued, "Odin recently spoke to me. He wants to send his son, Thor, to Earth for some training. Odin asked me to help look after him — but I have many responsibilities, so I thought you could watch over him instead."
Kai blinked. "Wait… me?"
"Yes," the Ancient One said casually. "You'll just need to keep an eye on him for a while."
Kai groaned inwardly. 'Thor… with his ego… this is going to be exhausting.'
"When's he arriving?" Kai asked reluctantly.
"Oh, there's still a few months," the Ancient One reassured him. "No need to stress — just make sure he doesn't cause too much trouble."
'Easier said than done,' Kai thought. Thor's temper would undoubtedly stir up trouble even if he tried to avoid it. Thankfully, Odin would have already stripped Thor of his powers by then.
"Fine," Kai sighed. "I'll keep an eye on him."
The Ancient One smiled. "Good. As for Yinsen, I believe he has a deep love for magic. He's making fast progress. It may be best for him to remain here for a while."
"I agree," Kai said. "Let him stay as long as he wants. Besides, there's Wi-Fi here — he can keep in touch with us."
When Kai rejoined Tony, he found him mesmerized, still watching Yinsen's magic practice.
"Yinsen's gonna stay here for a while," Kai told him. "But don't worry, he can still contact us."
Tony grinned. "Good. I was worried you'd just abandon him here like some lost puppy."
Back at the villa, Tony turned to Kai.
"Hey, Kai… Yinsen's magic — it's different from yours."
"Yeah," Kai nodded. "The source of my power is different from theirs."
Tony had clearly picked up some new understanding from Yinsen's explanations. Sensing that digging too deep into Kai's power might be disrespectful, Tony decided to leave it at that.
