At this time, Kai received a message from Samuel, asking him to hurry to the manor, as he had something important to share.
So, Kai left the villa and headed to the manor.
When Samuel saw Kai, he quickly called him into the laboratory and showed off his latest research.
After watching the demonstration—where the once sluggish test mice became full of energy—Kai knew that Samuel had made a breakthrough.
"Kai, thanks to your medicine, I suddenly figured out a key point in my research and made a breakthrough!"
Kai was pleased. After waiting for so long, he finally saw some progress. However, he still reminded Samuel not to overwork himself and to get enough rest.
In the following months, Kai occasionally visited the manor to check on Samuel's research progress and to see how far Gear had come. Sometimes, he also checked in on Yinsen's magic training.
On this day, Kai went to find Tony before heading to Kamar-Taj to check on Yinsen. Since their last visit, Yinsen had stayed in touch via computer, but this time, Kai planned to visit in person. He also wanted to ask the Ancient One when Odin would send Thor to Earth.
Upon arriving at Kamar-Taj, Kai found that nothing had changed. The place was as serene as ever.
Only Yinsen had changed—now wearing the student robes of Kamar-Taj, looking sharp and composed.
Seeing Kai and Tony, Yinsen walked over excitedly and gave them both a tight hug.
"You two are here!"
Tony grinned. "Of course."
Kai nodded. "It's been a while since we last checked in on you, so we decided to visit."
"Everything's going great here, and I've learned a lot of magic, just like I told you in my emails," Yinsen said with enthusiasm.
Kai nodded, signaling for Yinsen to catch up with Tony while he went to find the Ancient One.
Upon entering the room, Kai saw the Ancient One seated, eyes closed, incense burning in front of him.
Not wanting to disturb her, Kai sat down and waited.
Fortunately, it didn't take long before the Ancient One opened her eyes and looked at Kai.
"You didn't just come to visit Yinsen this time, did you?"
Kai got straight to the point. "I also want to ask—when will Thor arrive on Earth?"
"Perfect timing. When you walked in, I was communicating with Odin. He said that in a few days, he will send Thor to Earth. Keep an eye on him."
Kai nodded, taking note of the information.
Afterward, he went back to Yinsen and learned that he had already mastered the basics and was now training with Mordo. Soon, he would be able to move on to more advanced magic.
Kai patted Yinsen on the shoulder. "Tony and I are looking forward to your return. We'll definitely have a good drink then."
With that, Kai and Tony returned to the villa.
Kai took out his phone and contacted Gear. "Keep an eye on any unusual activity in Mexico," he instructed.
After all, the Ancient One had confirmed that Thor would arrive soon, and Kai remembered that Thor—and his hammer—first landed in Mexico.
Tony, watching Kai put away his phone, raised an eyebrow. "Kai, you're not just here to check on Yinsen, are you? You asked the Ancient One about something, didn't you?"
Kai nodded. "That's right. The Ancient One told me that Odin, King of Asgard, is going to banish his son, Thor, to Earth. Do you know about the Asgard?"
Tony stared at him. "Wait, what? The Asgard? Like, the ones from mythology?"
Kai nodded.
"But that's just a myth," Tony said, frowning. "I've heard about them since I was a kid."
"They were real all along," Kai explained. "Over time, their existence faded into myth. Anyway, Odin isn't just sending Thor to Earth—he's also throwing his hammer down here. I just told Gear to monitor the situation in Mexico."
Tony tilted his head. "You knew it was gonna land in Mexico?"
"Of course. If you're interested, we can go see for ourselves. But don't expect too much. Without his powers, Thor will just be a strong guy with an impulsive personality."
Kai gave Tony a knowing look. "And by the way, Asgardians live for thousands of years. Thor is only 1,500 years old—he's basically a young adult."
Tony's curiosity grew. "So, gods exist? That's kinda cool. When Thor shows up, we should go meet him."
Kai smirked. "That was the plan."
Tony grinned. "Alright. How are we getting there?"
"Put on your Iron Man suit. I'll come pick you up, and we'll go together."
Kai had no reason to refuse Tony's company. If anything, meeting Thor might push Tony to expand his focus beyond Earth and start considering the larger universe. That, in turn, could lead to stronger technology—better spaceships, more advanced weapons. Maybe even an Earth that wasn't defenseless in the face of future threats.
"Sounds like a plan," Tony said, excitement in his voice.
Then, turning to his AI, he instructed, "Jarvis, keep an eye on Mexico using the satellites."
"Understood, sir."
With that settled, Kai returned home and waited for news.
A few days later, while he was having dinner, Gear called.
"Boss, something flew in from outer space at high speed and crash-landed in Mexico."
Kai calmly took another bite of food. No rush. He'd finish eating first.
"Grandpa," Kai said, turning to the old man, "I need to head out for a bit."
