Chapter 8: The Hidden Passage

As we ran through the narrow passage, the air grew thick with dust and the smell of decay. I coughed, covering my mouth with my shirt.

"Where does this lead?" I asked Emily, my voice barely above a whisper.

"I'm not sure," she replied, her eyes fixed on the path ahead. "But I think it might take us to the old wing of the school."

The passage began to slope upward, and we found ourselves climbing a steep staircase. The steps creaked beneath our feet, and I wondered if we were walking into a trap.

Finally, we reached the top of the stairs and pushed through a hidden door. We found ourselves in a long, abandoned corridor, lined with cobweb-covered portraits and dusty old furniture.

"This is it," Emily breathed. "The old wing of Ravenswood Academy."

But as we began to explore the corridor, I realized that we were not alone. Footsteps echoed through the hallway, growing louder with each passing moment.

"We have to hide," I whispered to Emily.
