You Owe Me

Lisa barely got any sleep.

After spending all night fixing the AI system with Felix, she finally stumbled into her apartment at 4 AM.

Her body ached, her eyes burned, and her brain felt like melted cheese.

But the moment her head hit the pillow—

Her phone buzzed.

Lisa groaned, blindly reaching for it.

Felix: Be in the office by 8 AM.

Lisa squinted at the screen. 8 AM?! That was in four hours!

She typed back, "Are you insane?"

Felix responded immediately.

Felix: You owe me.

Lisa stared at the message.

Right. She did owe him.

And now, she was about to find out what that meant.

By the time Lisa dragged herself into the office, her body felt half-dead.

She was expecting Felix to mock her exhaustion.

Instead, he handed her a coffee without a word.

Lisa blinked at the cup. "Wait… are you being nice?"

Felix smirked. "Don't get used to it."

Lisa rolled her eyes and took a sip.

Then she frowned.

"This is exactly how I like my coffee."

Felix sat at his desk. "I know."

Lisa raised an eyebrow. "How?"

Felix didn't answer. He just leaned back in his chair, watching her with an unreadable expression.

Lisa narrowed her eyes. "You're kind of a stalker, aren't you?"

Felix chuckled. "I just pay attention."

Lisa wasn't sure if that was comforting or terrifying.

She sat down. "So, what's this 'favor' I owe you?"

Felix slid a thick folder across the desk. "You're coming with me to a business event this Saturday."

Lisa blinked. "Huh?"

Felix leaned forward, resting his elbows on the desk.

"My company is making a deal with Xinghua Tech. The CEO is an old man who only trusts 'family-oriented' businessmen."

Lisa frowned. "And?"

Felix smirked. "And I need to look 'family-oriented.'"

Lisa's eyes widened. "You want me to pretend to be your girlfriend?"

Felix tilted his head. "Smart girl."

Lisa choked on her coffee.

Lisa stared at him. "No way. Absolutely not."

Felix raised an eyebrow. "You owe me."

Lisa groaned. "You're seriously using your favor for this?"

Felix shrugged. "It's a business strategy."

Lisa crossed her arms. "Can't you just bring someone else?"

Felix's expression turned cold. "No."

Lisa hesitated. Why was he so against it?

Before she could ask, Felix continued, "The event is at a luxury hotel. You'll be wearing designer clothes, eating expensive food, and getting paid."

Lisa blinked. "Wait. You're paying me?"

Felix smirked. "Did you think I'd let you work for free?"

Lisa hesitated.

The logical part of her brain was screaming, "Say no! This is weird!"

But the broke part of her brain was whispering, "Designer clothes. Expensive food. Money."

Lisa sighed. "Fine. I'll do it."

Felix smirked. "Good girl."

Lisa scowled. "Don't call me that."

Felix just chuckled.

And for some reason—

Lisa's heart skipped a beat.

Later that day, Lisa was heading to the break room when she bumped into Leo.

Leo crossed his arms. "You look tired."

Lisa sighed. "Not in the mood, Leo."

Leo smirked. "Did Felix keep you up all night?"

Lisa froze.

Something about his tone made her uneasy.

Leo leaned closer. "Be careful, Lisa."

Lisa frowned. "What's that supposed to mean?"

Leo chuckled. "You think Felix is helping you out of kindness?"

Lisa hesitated. "I… I don't know."

Leo's smirk widened. "Exactly."

Then he walked away.

Lisa clenched her fists.

She hated that Leo got in her head—

But a small voice whispered, What if he's right?
