Chapter 23: The Minor Nirvana Golden Body
In a forest not far away, Xiao Yan watched everything unfold and twitched the corner of his mouth. "One punch and it's over? Is the Violet Crystal Winged Lion King really that weak?"
"That kid's soul power is comparable to the peak of a Dou Huang. The Violet Crystal Winged Lion King is at most a four or five star Dou Huang, so being instantly defeated is normal," Yao Lao calmly explained in Xiao Yan's mind.
"Why didn't you say that earlier, teacher?" Xiao Yan huffed in frustration. Didn't that mean all his efforts were for nothing?
"Well, it wasn't entirely wasted. Didn't you enjoy yourself earlier?" Yao Lao teased.
Xiao Yan sighed helplessly. Without strength, even anger becomes a joke in the eyes of others.
"Forget it. Back to training," Xiao Yan took a deep breath, suppressing his frustration as he returned to his cave.
In the neighboring cave, Yun Yun looked at Lu Bu, who was clinging to her like a koala. The corners of her mouth twitched as she said through gritted teeth, "Lu Bu… do you think I'm a fool?"
Lu Bu looked pale and feeble, his face a sickly shade as if he was on the brink of death. His head rested tightly against Yun Yun's chest, seemingly "absorbing the dangers of the mountains."
"If you keep this up, I'll leave you here!" Yun Yun threatened, clenching her teeth.
"Uh…" Lu Bu raised his head, unable to see her face due to the obstruction. He tilted his head slightly and finally saw Yun Yun's slightly angry expression.
"Get down now!" Yun Yun's brows furrowed as she scolded.
"Ahem…" Lu Bu let out an embarrassed cough and reluctantly let go of her. Though his face remained pale and his steps unsteady, he no longer looked like he was at death's door.
My acting was flawless. How did Yun Yun see through me?
Once Lu Bu got down, Yun Yun sighed in relief and helped him sit on a stone chair.
"What just happened?" Yun Yun asked softly. She was sure Lu Bu was only a Dou Practitioner, yet he had managed to repel the Violet Crystal Winged Lion King with a single strike.
"Uh… I had a fortunate encounter related to my soul," Lu Bu lied with a straight face. "Although I can unleash such power, the backlash is severe…"
"Soul power…" Yun Yun's expression shifted slightly. She had never delved into that aspect of cultivation.
"A few days of rest should be enough to recover. Plus, I have some pills," Lu Bu reassured her. "Don't worry about it."
"Alright… rest well," Yun Yun murmured, biting her lips. Gently, she guided Lu Bu to rest his head on her lap.
Lu Bu adjusted his position slightly, a satisfied smile forming on his face as he closed his eyes.
Meanwhile, in the neighboring cave, Xiao Yan let out a furious roar, striking his Xuan Heavy Ruler hard against the puppet. After days of training, he had finally managed to match its pace and land a blow on it.
Yet, Xiao Yan's face darkened. He wasn't happy at all. It felt like he had done something foolish, pushing two people who were already somewhat close into a more intimate relationship.
…
Back in Yun Yun's cave, Lu Bu was lying shirtless on a stone slab, gritting his teeth and occasionally letting out a hiss of pain.
"Ahh… Sister Yun Yun, be gentler. I can't take it… Ah!"
"Enough! Shut up!" Yun Yun snapped, her face flushed with embarrassment. This scoundrel never had anything decent to say.
"What a dirty mind," Lu Bu muttered. The Burning Blood potion was naturally scorching, so his complaints weren't wrong.
Yun Yun's delicate hand trembled as she held a jade spatula, carefully spreading the Burning Blood potion across Lu Bu's back. As the fiery energy surged into his body, Lu Bu groaned in comfort and formed hand seals, quickly refining the energy into Dou Qi.
"This little scoundrel…" Yun Yun muttered under her breath, unable to suppress a faint smile.
After some time, Lu Bu finished refining the potion's energy, and Yun Yun reapplied it.
"Lu Bu…"
"Hmm?"
"My seal will be fully dissolved tomorrow…"
"Oh…" Lu Bu glanced at her, then muttered in a slightly dejected tone, "Congratulations on regaining your strength."
"Are you planning to confront the Violet Crystal Winged Lion King again?"
"Yes… I need the Violet Spirit Crystal," Yun Yun replied softly, lowering her head as she spread the potion on his back.
"Alright, I'll help you," Lu Bu nodded. "You distract the Violet Crystal Winged Lion King, and I'll search her cave."
"Alright…" Yun Yun agreed after a moment of thought. As she looked at Lu Bu lying on the stone slab, a strange glimmer flashed in her eyes before quickly fading.
The next day, Xiao Yan was deep in cultivation when he was jolted awake by a sudden surge of energy from Yun Yun's cave. The powerful aura felt like a dormant beast awakening, breaking his focus.
"Teacher, has that woman recovered?" Xiao Yan asked in surprise.
"Seems like it," Yao Lao confirmed.
Soon after, Yao Lao sensed both Lu Bu and Yun Yun leaving together, flying toward the sky.
"Nalan Yanran will definitely obtain the Violet Spirit Crystal now…" Xiao Yan sighed. His opponent was growing stronger, and time was running out. The pressure weighed heavily on him.
"Come on, Xiao Yan," Yao Lao said, pulling out a bottle of Burning Blood and giving it a shake.
Xiao Yan grimaced but quickly steeled himself, gritting his teeth as he accepted the potion.
High in the sky, Lu Bu clung tightly to Yun Yun like an octopus, his face pale. "Sister Yun Yun, I'm scared of heights!"
Yun Yun's Dou Qi wings flapped steadily behind her, but she was speechless. This little scoundrel was getting bolder by the day.
"Lu Bu, did you remember everything I told you?" Yun Yun ignored his antics, focusing on the task at hand.
"Ahem… yes," Lu Bu loosened his grip slightly, embarrassed. He could have thickened his skin and continued clinging to her, but Yun Yun's lack of reaction made him feel awkward.
"Good. We're almost there. Let's begin," Yun Yun said, patting Lu Bu's shoulder. Ahead, the entrance to the Violet Crystal Winged Lion King's lair came into view.
"Alright," Lu Bu nodded, letting go of Yun Yun and stealthily approaching the cave entrance.
Meanwhile, Yun Yun launched herself into the air, her sword emitting a dazzling glow. With a single strike, she felled two fourth tier magical beasts guarding the cave.
"How dare you, human! You've got guts!" A furious roar echoed from the cave.
"Hand over the Violet Spirit Crystal!" Yun Yun's tone turned commanding, her attitude cold and unyielding.
"Die, human!" the Violet Crystal Winged Lion King bellowed, ignoring Yun Yun's words. Her Dou Qi flared as she charged toward Yun Yun.
Taking advantage of the distraction, Lu Bu slipped into the cave. Inside, the walls glistened with violet crystal, giving the space an enchanting glow.
"It's so hot in here…" Lu Bu muttered, wiping sweat from his brow. Something felt off about the temperature it was excessively hot.
"The Violet Crystal Winged Lion King's flames shouldn't be this strong…" Lu Bu frowned, sensing that something was unusual.
Still, he wasn't here to investigate mysteries. Spreading out his soul power, he quickly located a central crystal platform within the cave. Resting atop it was a large, violet, spherical crystal about the size of a human head.
"Got it!" Lu Bu's eyes lit up with excitement. This was the Companion Violet Crystal Source, his target.
To cultivate the Azure Sky Dragon Transformation Technique, Lu Bu needed to strengthen his physical body first. The Minor Nirvana Golden Body was essential for this purpose.
However, cultivating the Minor Nirvana Golden Body required extraordinary resilience to endure the energy impact. As a mere Dou Practitioner, Lu Bu's body was far too weak for the task.
The Companion Violet Crystal Source was the perfect treasure to cleanse his body and strengthen it in preparation.
Lu Bu knocked on the crystal with his fingers, noting that while it could be broken, it would be more efficient to use Violet Spirit Crystals.
With that thought, he dashed deeper into the cave. After all, he wanted to have a little "chat" with the cubs.
