Chapter 21: Lu Bu Doesn't Hold Grudges for Long

"Yun Zhi, are you still planning to go after the Purple Spirit Crystal?" Lu Bu asked.

"Yes," Yun Zhi nodded. "That item is... very important to me."

"Oh, I see..." Lu Bu muttered. It seemed that Nalan Yanran's cultivation could rise to the level of a Da Dou Shi thanks to the Purple Spirit Crystal, or perhaps the pill refined from it.

"You mentioned that you're an alchemist?" Yun Zhi glanced at Lu Bu. With food in her stomach, her chaotic thoughts had finally calmed, and she had reverted to her usual noble, untouchable Dou Huang demeanor or at least what remained of it without her strength.

"Yes," Lu Bu said with a smile, biting into his roasted meat.

"I have a friend who is an alchemist. After matters in the Magical Beast Mountain Range are settled, I can introduce you to him," Yun Zhi offered, her lips glistening with oil from the roasted meat, making her look quite stunning.

"Haha, that won't be necessary," Lu Bu said, waving it off with a light chuckle. His alchemy wasn't limited by technique but by materials. In the Jia Ma Empire, there wasn't anyone who could teach him much about alchemy.

"You…" Yun Zhi's delicate face briefly froze in surprise before her expression turned to slight annoyance. It had been a long time since anyone had refused her so directly.

Lu Bu chuckled. Yun Zhi was clearly trying to repay his kindness in this subtle way. Once repaid, their relationship would return to being ordinary, with no further ties.

Normally, Lu Bu wouldn't intentionally complicate his relationship with a woman, but the problem was… this was Yun Zhi.

The hiding place of Wu Protector was likely within the Yun Lan Sect. Lu Bu had never forgotten the grudge of being hunted down, and he constantly looked forward to delivering retribution personally.

Thus, his relationship with Yun Zhi couldn't be normal. She had to be firmly tied to his side so that when he entered the Yun Lan Sect, it would also be Wu Protector's death day!

Lu Bu didn't hold grudges for long he just made sure to settle them thoroughly!

Of course… Yun Zhi was also truly captivating, and that was another reason.

Seeing Yun Zhi's stunned expression, Lu Bu smiled faintly. "My alchemy skills are decent. I don't need to learn anything from others."

After saying that, he sat down cross legged and began to cultivate.

"Hmph," Yun Zhi huffed. This brat was so arrogant. After only a few days of practicing alchemy, he already thought highly of himself. "Decent alchemy skills? Can he even compare to Gu He?"

At that moment, silver array patterns lit up beneath Lu Bu as he meditated. The energy of heaven and earth began to gather, forming a small vortex that hovered above his head in no time.

Yun Zhi stared in surprise. Could this formation really be carried around? Then, as pale yellow Dou Qi rose from Lu Bu's body, her astonishment deepened. This guy's cultivation technique... it seemed to rival her own!

"Mysterious fellow..." Yun Zhi muttered under her breath, though she still felt annoyed. No matter how mysterious he was, he was still just a Dou Shi. Even if he was an alchemist, how strong could he possibly be?

"Forget it. Ignore this brat." Yun Zhi found a spot in the cave, sat down, and began working to dissolve the seal within her body. Without her strength, she was essentially nothing.

That evening, the three of them sat beneath the waterfall, silently gnawing on roasted meat.

Since Xiao Yan was also present, Lu Bu decided to introduce him and Yun Zhi to each other for politeness' sake. After all, they would be crossing paths frequently.

Interestingly, both chose to give fake names. Xiao Yan called himself "Yao Yan," while Yun Zhi introduced herself as "Yun Zhi."

Unfortunately for Yun Zhi, neither of the two men was fooled they both already knew her true identity.

"Ahem… You two have good talent. Ever considered changing your place of cultivation?" Yun Zhi asked lightly, trying to ease the awkward atmosphere while also taking the chance to recruit them.

These two were young yet already on par with her disciple in strength. If they joined her Yun Lan Sect, their future would be limitless.

"Oh? Where to?" Lu Bu asked with a smile. Of course, he knew the answer, but he wanted to save Yun Zhi from the awkwardness.

Xiao Yan, however, kept his face cold and ignored Yun Zhi as much as possible. Without this woman's backing, Nalan Yanran wouldn't have dared to break off the engagement. Half of his humiliation could be blamed on her.

"The Yun Lan Sect!" Yun Zhi replied, unsurprisingly using the opportunity to promote her sect.

"Not interested." Xiao Yan shot her a cold glance and continued eating his roasted meat.

"Yao Yan, you " Yun Zhi frowned, visibly displeased.

"Ahem, Yun Zhi, your meat is burning," Lu Bu interjected. The woman was so clumsy that she had held her meat directly in the flames, and it had already started to char.

"Ah!" Yun Zhi yelped, quickly lifting her skewer. Unfortunately, the stick itself had caught fire, and with a light shake, the charred meat broke off and fell into the flames.

Left with no choice, Yun Zhi began roasting a new piece. Without her Dou Qi, she was just an ordinary woman albeit an extraordinarily beautiful one with no special abilities.

"And you, Lu Bu?" Yun Zhi asked softly as she roasted her meat.

Lu Bu rolled his eyes. This woman was so persistent. He had already steered the conversation away, yet she circled back.

"Um… does the Yun Lan Sect have beautiful female disciples?" Lu Bu teased with a grin. "If it does, I might consider it."

Xiao Yan's face darkened immediately. Beautiful female disciples? Wasn't that referring to his fiancée, Nalan Yanran?

Damn it. Was this guy trying to steal her from him?

Though he had already annulled the engagement, the Three Year Agreement hadn't concluded yet. Xiao Yan's eyes flashed with displeasure, and his mood soured.

"I'm done eating. You two continue," Xiao Yan said coldly, tossing his skewer aside and heading back to his cave.

Yun Zhi watched him leave in confusion, unsure what she had done to offend him again. A moment later, frustration flickered in her eyes. Her kindness had been taken as mockery what was with his attitude?

"Yun Zhi, my friend has a bit of a temper. I hope you can forgive him," Lu Bu said with a chuckle. Internally, he noted that Yun Zhi and Xiao Yan's relationship was now beyond repair.

He congratulated himself. "I've just rescued another lovely lady from a scumbag. Truly, my deeds are virtuous!"

"Forget him," Yun Zhi said with a sigh. She'd gotten angrier in the past two days than in the rest of her life combined.

"And what about you, Lu Bu? Will you join the Yun Lan Sect?"

Here we go again!

Lu Bu rolled his eyes. This woman really was persistent.

"Will you introduce me to the pretty female disciples? Heh heh heh…"

Yun Zhi's face darkened. "Lu Bu, didn't you say before that you weren't a lecher?"

"Ah, well… ahem. Of course not. But at my age, isn't it the perfect time to find a partner?" Lu Bu shamelessly replied.

"You see… this and that… this way and that way…"

Lu Bu rambled on nonsensically until Yun Zhi eventually forgot the original question. By the time she realized it, she noticed he hadn't given her a direct answer at all.

"Despicable!" Yun Zhi bit her lip, a trace of grievance creeping into her heart. She was trying to help him, yet he didn't appreciate it at all!

Meanwhile, in the adjacent cave, Xiao Yan finished his cultivation session and scratched his head irritably. "That Yun Zhi is definitely trouble!"
