Brie's POV
“Your parents did what!” Vic exclaimed.
She had been just as surprised by my parents’ cold shoulder to Lynx as I had. My mother was more appeased by the idea of a young man driving me home, my father not so much. He had taken one look at Lynx and instantly assumed the worst.
To add fuel to the fire, I almost kissed him. Well, kissed his cheek as a thank you for saving me and bringing me home before I was thoroughly embarrassed.
My mom had spent the rest of the night chastising my father for being so rude. In response, the house was filled with useless grunts as his replies.
They always waited until I was fast asleep to have the hard talks. I’m sure he told her that Lynx was a Peak. How had he known that Lynx was a Peak and I hadn’t? Even while he stood in their lair, I had no idea.
“He’s never going to speak to me again,” I signed as I slammed my locker door closed in frustration.
