Chapter 49: Ticking Clock

Brie's POV

How the hell had the Peak Estate become our new hangout spot?

Vic and I sat on the absurd white couch while Logan and Lynx found themselves in a wrestling match on the floor. They had since removed the coffee table that was made of glass.

Jonas Peak was still as unpleasant as ever, but Loraine -as she requested I call her - had grown on me. She was over the top, expressive, and way too materialistic, but she made up for those less-than-ideal qualities with her no-nonsense way of thinking. She didn’t care who was around; she was ready to pick a fight with her husband and stand by her beliefs.

After graduation, I confessed to my parents that for the past four years, I was being bullied, and after the almost drowning incident, Logan had been banned from my house indefinitely. Vic couldn’t take her mother’s constant check-ins, so Logan and Lynx’s house was our last and final option.

“Would you boys give it a rest already?” Vic asked, peeking up from over her phone.
