Incurable

"I don't need a doctor. Goodbye," Felix said curtly, and shut the door.

Or at least attempted to do so. Unfortunately for him, Kade had already predicted that, and stuck his foot in the door before the Omega could do anything.

"I think you do," he protested. "You said you had fleas, no?"

Felix stared at Kade in silence for a moment, rendered speechless. Did the Alpha really drag a doctor from his pack to Silverfall so that she would deal with Felix's non-existent fleas?

"And you generally look a bit unhealthy. So it would be good for a doctor to take a look and see what's wrong, no?" Kade added.

Truthfully, Felix could use a checkup, with how weak and tired he had been feeling. Those could all just be symptoms of pregnancy, but they could very well be a result of something else. So Felix had been thinking about booking a visit to a local clinic, it was just that the prices… were rather discouraging. Therefore, it should be a good thing if he could have a checkup for free…

Except, his pregnancy! Would a GP be able to tell Felix was pregnant, without doing pregnancy or blood tests? Felix only had the common knowledge regarding medicine, so he wasn't sure! And a doctor from the Bloodmoon Pack would undoubtedly report everything to Kade…

"Let's go inside then and-"

"It's an invasion of privacy!" Felix finally snapped, interrupting Kade. "I won't agree!"

"Eh? But won't it be good for you to get a checkup?" Kade paused, visibly taken aback. He didn't seem to pretend this time, he genuinely didn't expect such an adverse reaction. "I even brought you a Beta female, since I thought you might be uncomfortable with my personal doctor. She will give you a checkup in private, I can wait outside if you want!"

Felix's brows twitched. That was indeed nice and considerate of Kade… But that was not the problem!

"Am I to understand that she won't tell you my results then?" he asked coldly.

"Well…" Kade's gaze shifted away.

And that was all the answer Felix needed. "Goodbye then!" He tried to close the door again…

But Kade's foot was still lodged inside, blocking it.

"Would you mind?" Felix nudged Kade's shoe with his own foot, trying to get it out of the way, but it was unmovable.

"Why are you so against it?" Kade still couldn't understand. "Do you have a doctor phobia or something?"

"Well maybe I do!"

"Is that so? But look at her!" Kade grabbed the woman by her shoulders, pushing her ahead of himself, and practically lifting her up in the process. "She's so tiny, even smaller than you! Soft and kind, and completely harmless!"

The woman indeed appeared harmless. While she was, without a doubt, a wolf, she appeared more like a scared squirrel! And her eyes were like those of a fearful doe…

However, it wasn't her physique that Felix was wary of, but her knowledge!

"Give me five minutes," he finally sighed.

He turned around, grabbed his phone, and locked himself in the bathroom, looking up a few things online. When he got out a moment later, his lips were pressed in a thin line, and his face pale, but his eyes filled with quiet determination. Mixed with a hint of remaining reluctance and powerlessness.

"Let's get it over with then." He let the doctor inside, but as Kade was about to step in, he lifted his hand, stopping the Alpha. "You said you would wait outside."

"Eeeeh?" Kade whined in disappointment, but Felix already slammed the door in his face.

"Alright. So, what am I supposed to do?" he turned to the doctor.

"Please take your shirt off and sit down. I'll examine you first."

Felix did as he was told - although not without nervously glancing at his stomach, still perfectly flat - and took a seat. The woman started measuring his pulse and pressure, while asking questions about his health and wellbeing. It wasn't Felix's first time getting a checkup, of course, but it had never been this nerve-wrecking… While he might have read online that a general practitioner shouldn't be able to diagnose pregnancy without blood or urine tests… What if this Beta actually could?

"Breathe slowly now. There's no need to worry," the doctor tried reassuring him, as she pressed the cold stethoscope against Felix's back. "I'm sure Young Master won't abandon you, even if you have any health issues. Our pack has sufficient resources to provide you with top-quality health care!"

That… didn't make Felix feel any better at all. Quite the opposite, in fact. He wanted nothing more but to be abandoned!

But, he wasn't going to dump his problem on this poor Beta that got dragged here by Kade. She was just fulfilling her duties, and didn't deserve to be treated that way, so Felix chose to remain silent, trying to control his breathing.

It all went well in the end. While there was a bit of an issue, as the woman suggested taking blood samples for more detailed tests… Felix just told her that if Kade had any problems with his refusal, he should talk to Felix himself, and she eventually dropped it. She wasn't specifically ordered to take any samples, so there was no need for her to force the Omega!

And finally, the checkup ended. Felix quickly pulled a thick jumper over his head, as the woman went to call Kade in.

"And how is he?" Kade leaned against the door frame, still keeping his distance in fear of fleas. His dark eyes were fully focused on Felix, who lifted his head, returning the gaze, and with the utmost seriousness announced,

"Incurable."

"What?" Both Kade and the doctor exclaimed with surprise.

"What… What is wrong with him?" Kade turned to the doctor, a hint of unease creeping into his velvety voice.

"Nothing serious!" the doctor quickly reassured. "He appears to be underweight and based on my examination, might be suffering from a mild case of anemia. However, it doesn't seem serious, and he should be fine with some rest and a proper diet. I will also prescribe some supplements."

"Oh, that's great! And… how about fleas?"

"He's clear."

"Amazing!" Kade grinned widely…

…While Felix scrunched his face, as if he had just eaten a whole lemon. There was nothing remotely amazing about not having fleas! Because fleas would at least protect him from Kade invading his personal space…

As the Alpha was doing right now. It was as if staying away from 'his mate' for a few days left Kade absolutely starved for touch, because he instantly clung onto Felix's back, wrapping his arms around the Omega, and squeezing him.

"Is it just me, or do you seem even thinner?" he asked, pinching Felix's waist.

"It's just you." Felix squirmed around, trying to free himself, but it was no use. "Maybe you just got fat during your New Year trip, so I seem smaller in comparison!" he complained, trying to make a jab at the man…

And instantly regretted it. Because wanting to prove him wrong, Kade lifted his shirt, not minding that he tore it in a rush. Revealing his perfectly sculpted, mouthwatering abs, with not a trace of any excess fat on them. "Where am I fat, hmm?" he grinned. "Check for yourself!"

And then, he grabbed Felix's hand, and pressed it against his abdomen.

Felix almost exploded. 'This man!'

"What the hell are you doing, you pervert!" he yelled, snatched his hand from Kade's grip, and quickly turned away, to hide his flushed face. His whole palm was burning, his skin tingling from coming in contact with Kade's…

"Just making sure my mate knows that I take good care of myself and stay fit!" Kade laughed. "Come on now, let's go eat. You need a proper diet, yes?"

"I also need rest!" Felix tried protesting, but he was already almost at the door, pushed forward by Kade. All while the poor doctor was still standing on the side, looking more like a startled squirrel than ever. "And I've already eaten!"

"Well, then you're going to eat again!" Kade made nothing of Felix's protests. Why should he? He was barely giving the Omega a light push. If Felix truly wanted to oppose him, he'd be able to easily do so… But it seemed that he just simply liked to complain!

Meanwhile, Felix felt betrayed by his body, which longed for the Alpha against his own will, and didn't allow him to properly resist! Well, at least he would get some free food out of it…
