Chapter 5

In the next moment, a sharp pain radiated from my head as an expensive vase shattered against my forehead. My body involuntarily toppled to the side. Xavion, who had returned unnoticed, embraced the teary-eyed Melody with concern, exclaiming, "Vivienne, what's gotten into you all of a sudden!?"

"I've gone mad? Xavion, how dare you speak to me like that! Don't you have any clue how our son died?" My scalp felt sticky, and I knew it must be blood. But no pain mattered to me now. I just kept howling at the two of them like a vengeful spirit.

"What nonsense are you spouting? Didn't I tell you that our child's death was an accident? Do you think I, as a father, wanted our son to die?"

He spoke with such conviction that I, already knowing the truth, couldn't help but laugh bitterly.
