Chapter 6

The sound of the lock echoed, extinguishing the only source of light. Their voices became muffled through the iron door.

"Melody, I'm heading to the States tomorrow for a business trip to learn from the local circus. I'll probably be back in a week. Here's the key to the basement. Let Vivienne out only after she apologizes to you."

A sweet acknowledgment came from the other end.

Of course, Melody had no intention of letting me out. She didn't even bother to bring me food every day.

But that was the least of my worries.

The wound on the back of my head hadn't been properly treated, and in these conditions, it quickly became infected.

Intense pain and itching constantly gnawed at my injury.

When the torment became truly unbearable, I screamed for help non-stop towards the door.

But in the face of deliberate neglect, all struggles were in vain.
