Chapter 3

After receiving confirmation from the other party, Elowen finally smiled with satisfaction.

"Very good, I'll double your payment and transfer it to your account!"

"I've been lacing his water with a full day's dose of medication. Leave him barely alive and just dump him there. I'll deal with him after I'm done with Frost. When I get there, I'll hug him and cry – he'll never suspect me."

I was filled with uncontrollable shock.

I had already been reduced to a useless state, but Emily was still not at ease. She went to such lengths to destroy me for James!

But for all her calculations, she never accounted for the fact that I only took one sip of that water.

After hanging up the phone, the man turned, intending to strike my hand again with the club.

I seized the opportunity to strangle him unconscious with the iron chains on the floor, then staggered out.

Once outside the room, I realized this was the underground warehouse of Smith Corp. Just as I was about to leave, I saw two people talking in the garden.

Emily leaned against James, her head buried in his chest, seemingly filled with endless affection.

She sighed, "Frost, your embrace is so warm. I wish I could be held by you like this forever. If only this moment would never end."James didn't push her away, but instead wrapped his arm around her waist.

He sighed, "You've been through so much, Vivienne. I remember everything you've done for me."

"But I've long set my life goal to focus on my career. If I can't make something of myself, I'm afraid I'll regret it for the rest of my life."

"I'm about to negotiate with a big corporation. I heard their CEO has a grudge against Michael. What do you think about me handing Michael over to him? Would that help me secure the deal? I don't know if you're willing to part with him though..."

Emily responded without hesitation, "Of course I'm willing. Just let me know when you need him. When my family went bankrupt, you were the one who helped me with a billion dollars. Smith Corp wouldn't be where it is today without you."

She paused before adding, "Just... no matter what happens, make sure he stays alive in the end."

"You can't bear to let him go?"

"It's not that. His blood type and bone marrow are a match for you. In case something happens to you, he could donate blood or organs."I stood there, a cold smile playing on my lips.

So Emily thought that ten billion in funding came from James.

No wonder she was so obedient to him, treating him like her savior.

I couldn't wait to see her reaction when she learned the truth.

Taking out my phone, I dialed a number I hadn't called in years.

"Dad, I'm done being angry. I admit I was wrong."

"I'll agree to your demand to divorce Emily. Send someone to bring me home."

Hanging up, I prepared to turn and leave.

But just as I exited the company, I ran into James.

He stood with his arms crossed, his gaze mocking as he looked at me.

"Enjoy eavesdropping on others? The once illustrious Michael, how you've fallen to this beggar-like state. Covered in blood, pale and gaunt - didn't you eat the special meal I prepared for you?"

My clothes were stained with blood from the attack, leaving me in a sorry state.
