Chapter 1

To cure my son Freesia's autism, I specifically went abroad for training.

That night during our video call, I found him curled up under the table, his eyes darting around, too afraid to look at me.

Worried, I contacted his tutor. She said to alleviate my son's separation anxiety, she had specially brought her child to keep Freesia company!

The next second, she sent me a photo of the two boys together.

The boy was wearing Freesia's favorite clothes.

I messaged my husband, but he carelessly replied:

"Thanks to Sunny, Freesia has made his first real friend in life."

"Freesia gave those clothes to Sunny himself! Can't you, as his mother, be a little less stingy?!"

Uneasy, I rushed home early, only to discover a hidden secret.

Having been away for almost a year, I relied entirely on Nolan's calls and daily video chats to stay informed about the family business operations and Freesia's condition.

During each video call, Nolan was always with Freesia, and at those times, Freesia seemed perfectly normal.Despite his completely different demeanor when secretly video calling me, I must go back and check on the situation.

I ended my training early but didn't tell anyone about my decision to return home.

As soon as I got off the plane, I rushed back to the house.

It was morning, and normally at this time, Nolan should have taken Freesia to her special education school.

Perfect, I could search for some useful evidence at home first.

But unexpectedly, when I arrived home, I found that Freesia hadn't gone to school. Instead, she was crouching timidly in a corner of the yard.

"Freesia," I called her name softly. Her eyes flickered for a moment, then quickly dimmed again.

Then, she curled up into a ball, covering her head with both hands, making sounds like crying.

This meant she was afraid.

I put down my luggage and quickly walked over to crouch beside her.

I hugged her shoulders, repeating over and over, "Freesia, it's Mom. Mom's back."

Freesia's trembling body didn't relax, and she kept making sounds like crying non-stop.

How could this be?

Before I left, Freesia had clearly shown improvement. That day, he still raised his smiling face and waved goodbye to me. I could still clearly hear him say, "Mom—bye—bye!"

I held back the tears that were about to flow, hugging Freesia tightly. "Don't be afraid, Freesia. Mommy's back. Mommy will protect you."

Suddenly, I felt warmth at my feet. Looking down, I realized Freesia had an accident.

Seeing the little stream on the ground, I realized the problem might be more serious than I had imagined.

My heart ached. What on earth had happened?!

Just as I was feeling sad and confused, Sunny's voice came from behind me: "Little trash, have you hidden yet?"

That drawling voice sent chills down my spine.

And Freesia in my arms started trembling even more violently.
