CHAPTER 10

Adrian's POV

The VIP section smelled like expensive alcohol and regret.

And right in the middle of it, sprawled on the floor like a fallen prince, was Josh.

Pathetic.

I nudged him with my foot—hard enough to wake his sorry ass up.

"Ahhh! Who dares to kick this beta?" he yelped, flailing dramatically before jolting upright like he'd been electrocuted.

I crossed my arms. "It's me."

His bleary eyes struggled to focus. Then, the next second—

He lunged at me.

What. The. Hell.

"Adrian, my heart is shattered!" Josh wailed, clinging to me like I was his last lifeline.

I stiffened. This idiot.

"Get off," I gritted out.

Josh sniffled, wiping his snot on his sleeve. "She left me."

I exhaled. "Who?"

"Sheila…" he mumbled.

"Sheila who?"

"My girlfriend."

I stared. Since when the hell did Josh have a girlfriend?

"When did this happen? And why wasn't I informed?"

Josh hiccupped. "It was on your sixteenth birthday. Your aunt brought some girl. Things happened. We clicked. Started dating."

My frown deepened. Since when was Josh the type to 'click' with anyone?

"And you didn't tell me because…?"

"Because of her special identity."

I narrowed my eyes. "Special identity?"

Josh groaned and slumped against the couch. "I don't know, man. Everything was fine. We were drinking after you left, and then—out of nowhere—she called me and said, 'Let's break up.'"

I raised a brow. "Just like that?"

He nodded furiously. "Just like that! Before I could even say a word—bam! Call ended. And when I tried calling back…?"

His voice cracked.

"The number you are trying to call is unavailable."

I pinched the bridge of my nose. Damn.

Looking at him, I actually felt… pity. Not that I'd ever admit it.

"Sorry," I muttered.

Big mistake.

Josh's eyes widened—then—

"AHHHHH!"

A full-on meltdown.

"WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT?!" he wailed, shaking me by the shoulders like some overdramatic soap opera heroine.

Patience, Adrian.

"Fine. I take it back."

Josh gasped, looking even more betrayed. "You're TAKING IT BACK?!"

I was this close to knocking him out.

With a sigh, I shoved him off me and turned to security. "Get him in the car before I lose my damn mind."

Two guards immediately stepped forward, dragging the overly dramatic drunkard towards the exit.

The second he was secured in the back seat, I slid in beside him.

"Silas mansion," I ordered.

The car roared to life.

As we pulled away, I leaned back, shutting my eyes.

Tonight had been a damn mess.

And something told me… it was only the beginning.
