Chapter 25 – The Breaking Point

---

1. When the Past Comes Knocking

The next day, Hana walked into school with Ji-hoon by her side, feeling lighter than she had in weeks.

For once, things felt… normal.

Until she saw him.

Standing by the lockers, leaning casually against the wall, was someone she never thought she'd see again.

Kyung-soo.

Her ex.

Hana's breath caught.

Ji-hoon noticed immediately, following her gaze. His grip on her hand tightened. "Who the hell is that?"

Kyung-soo smirked. "Still as beautiful as ever, Hana."

Ji-hoon's jaw clenched. "I'll give you three seconds to back off."

Kyung-soo chuckled. "Relax, man. I just came to talk."

Hana swallowed hard. "Why are you here?"

Kyung-soo's eyes softened. "You never answered my messages. I had to see you."

Ji-hoon stepped in front of her, his presence radiating danger. "She didn't answer because she doesn't want to."

Kyung-soo tilted his head. "And you're speaking for her now?"

Ji-hoon's fists clenched. "Hana, do you want to talk to him?"

Hana hesitated.

She had no feelings for Kyung-soo anymore, but a part of her wanted closure.

Ji-hoon saw the hesitation in her eyes and took a step back, jaw tight.

"Fine." His voice was controlled, but she could feel the storm brewing underneath. "I'll be outside."

Then he walked away.

Hana sighed, turning back to Kyung-soo.

"Make this quick."

2. The Words That Cut Deep

Kyung-soo leaned against the lockers, studying her.

"You really moved on, huh?"

Hana crossed her arms. "That's what people do after a breakup."

Kyung-soo chuckled. "I always thought we'd find our way back."

Hana shook her head. "You cheated on me, Kyung-soo."

His expression faltered. "I was a stupid kid."

Hana stared at him. "And you think showing up now changes anything?"

Kyung-soo sighed. "I just… I wanted to see if there was still a chance."

Hana's heart ached—not for him, but for the time she wasted thinking he cared.

She took a deep breath. "There's not."

Kyung-soo swallowed. "Do you love him?"

Hana didn't even hesitate.

"Yes."

Kyung-soo exhaled sharply, rubbing the back of his neck. "Then I guess this is goodbye."

Hana nodded. "Goodbye, Kyung-soo."

She turned and walked away.

Straight into Ji-hoon's arms.

3. A Storm Waiting to Explode

Ji-hoon had been waiting outside, hands shoved in his pockets, tension radiating off him.

The moment Hana reached him, he pulled her close.

"I don't like him," Ji-hoon muttered.

Hana smiled. "You don't have to."

Ji-hoon studied her face. "Are you okay?"

Hana nodded. "I just needed to say goodbye."

Ji-hoon exhaled, then cupped her cheek. "Good. Because if he touches you, I'm breaking his nose."

Hana laughed softly. "Possessive much?"

Ji-hoon smirked. "With you? Always."

Then—

He kissed her.

Right in the middle of the hallway.

And for once—

Hana didn't care who was watching.
