Chapter 3: The Watcher
Emily tried to shake off the feeling of being watched, but it only intensified as she walked home. She quickened her pace, her heart racing with every snap of a twig or rustle of leaves.
As she approached her apartment building, she noticed a figure lurking in the shadows. Tall, imposing, and utterly menacing.
Emily's instincts screamed at her to run, but her legs felt heavy, as if rooted to the spot. The figure didn't move, didn't speak, but simply watched her with an unblinking gaze.
Suddenly, a car drove by, illuminating the figure. Emily caught a glimpse of a hoodie, a scarf covering the lower face. Her mind racing, she fumbled for her keys, desperately trying to unlock the door.
The figure vanished into thin air, leaving Emily shaken and bewildered. She burst into her apartment, slamming the door shut behind her, and leaned against it, panting.
Who was that person? And what did they want?
As she tried to calm down, Emily noticed something on her kitchen counter. A small, white rose with a note attached:
"You can't escape me."
Emily's blood ran cold.
