Chapter 4: The Investigation

Emily's hands trembled as she held the note, her mind racing with questions. Who was sending her these menacing messages? And what did they want?

She knew she had to report this to the police. Emily took a deep breath, trying to calm down, and dialed the non-emergency police number.

Officer James, a friendly and reassuring voice, answered her call. Emily explained the situation, and he promised to send someone over to take a statement.

As Emily waited for the police to arrive, she tried to gather her thoughts. She thought back to the mysterious message on her phone, the stranger in the park, and now this ominous note.

Who could be behind all this?

The doorbell rang, breaking Emily's train of thought. She opened the door to find Officer Rachel, a kind-faced woman with a warm smile.

"Hi, Emily. I'm Officer Rachel. I'm here to take your statement."

Emily nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. Maybe, just maybe, the police could help her uncover the identity of her stalker.

As Emily recounted the events, Officer Rachel listened attentively, her expression growing increasingly serious.

"I'm going to need to take this note and the rose as evidence," Officer Rachel said, carefully placing them in a plastic bag. "We'll also need to review any security footage from your building and the park."

Emily nodded, feeling a sense of hope. Maybe, with the police's help, she could finally uncover the truth behind these sinister messages.

But as Officer Rachel turned to leave, Emily's phone buzzed with an incoming text message:

"You'll never catch me."

Emily's heart sank.
