chapter 37

Chapter 37: The Unexpected Visitor

As they waited in silence, Emily's heart was pounding in her chest. Who was inside the house? And what did they want?

Samantha's eyes were locked on the door, her face tense with anticipation. Emily could see the fear lurking behind her eyes, and she knew that Samantha was just as scared as she was.

As they waited, the silence seemed to stretch on forever. Emily's ears were straining to pick up any sound, but there was nothing. Just the distant crash of the waves against the shore.

And then, just as Emily was starting to relax, she heard it. The sound of footsteps, light and cautious, coming from inside the house.

Samantha's eyes locked onto Emily's face, and Emily could see the fear lurking behind her eyes. "Do you hear that?" Samantha whispered.

Emily nodded, her heart racing with fear. "What is it?" she whispered back.

Samantha's face was grim. "I don't know, but we need to be careful."

As they waited in silence, Emily's mind was racing with questions. Who was inside the house? And what did they want?

And then, just as they were about to find out, the door creaked open, and a figure stepped out onto the porch.

It was a woman, with long, curly brown hair and a bright smile. She looked familiar, but Emily couldn't quite place her.

"Hi," the woman said, as she stepped out onto the porch. "My name is Sarah. I've been waiting for you."

Samantha's eyes narrowed, her face tense with suspicion. "Who are you?" she asked.

Sarah smiled. "I'm a friend," she said. "I've been sent to help you."

Emily's eyes locked onto Sarah's face, and she could see the sincerity lurking behind her eyes. She believed Sarah. She was telling the truth.

But Samantha was still skeptical. "How do we know we can trust you?" she asked.

Sarah smiled. "You don't," she said. "But I'm willing to prove myself. I have information that can help you bring down the Wrights."

Emily's heart skipped a beat as she heard the words. Bring down the Wrights? That was exactly what they had been trying to do.

As Sarah began to explain, Emily's eyes widened in shock. Sarah had been working undercover, gathering evidence against the Wrights. She had proof of their corruption, and she was willing to share it with them.

But as they listened to Sarah's story, Emily couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off. Sarah seemed too good to be true, and Emily wondered if she was hiding something.

As they continued to talk, Emily's doubts grew. What if Sarah was working for the Wrights? What if this was all a trap?

But Samantha seemed to trust Sarah, and Emily decided to reserve her judgment. For now, they needed all the help they could get.

As they finalized their plan, Emily felt a sense of determination wash over her. They were going to bring down the Wrights, no matter what it took.

But just as they were about to put their plan into action, Emily heard a faint noise coming from outside. It sounded like footsteps, heavy and deliberate.

Samantha's eyes locked onto Emily's face. "Do you hear that?" she whispered.

Emily nodded, her heart racing with fear. "What is it?" she whispered back.

Samantha's face was grim. "I don't know, but we need to be careful."

As they waited in silence, Emily's mind was racing with questions. Who was outside? And what did they want?

And then, just as they were about to find out, the door burst open, and a group of men stormed inside.

They were the Wrights' goons, and they were armed to the teeth.
