In the student council office, Lester put down the documents in his hands. He was genuinely stunned by Richard's announcement. It seemed that men in love—whether human or bloodkin—were all the same.
Though the method was a bit old-fashioned, the results were undoubtedly effective. At the very least, every bloodkin in St. Celestine Academy now knew that the human girl was off-limits. And soon, this news would spread throughout Rosewood Town.
However, Lester couldn't bring himself to feel happy. He thought of his father, who was currently overseas. He was certain his father would receive the news soon, and when he did…
Perhaps it was time to start preparing for the inevitable.
After making his announcement, Richard casually switched off the broadcast, completely indifferent to the uproar he had caused.
This guy was absolutely insane!
Finally snapping out of her daze, Anran blurted out, "You… you're crazy!"
Richard shrugged, nonchalant. "They were going to find out sooner or later, anyway."
The feeling of both reclaiming his position and making his claim was incredibly satisfying.
Arguing with a madman was futile, as experience had proven.
Anran sighed in frustration. "But… how am I supposed to go back to class now?"
She knew she'd be drowning in a sea of envy and jealousy. She wasn't ready to face so many curious and judgmental stares. Even if they were going to be together, shouldn't he have given her some time to prepare?
Wait—no! She had only come to return the cross and ask a few questions. She hadn't even considered the idea of them being in a relationship. How had things escalated to this point?
Hearing her concerns, Richard smirked. "If that's the case, let's just skip class."
Skip class? Have you even attended class before? Anran thought to herself.
"Come on, I'll take you somewhere," Richard added, clearly in a good mood.
Anran gave him a wary look. She had already been tricked once. Would the next place be even worse?
As if reading her mind, Richard said, "Relax. If we're skipping class, of course, it'll be somewhere far from campus."
After a moment's consideration, Anran finally nodded in resignation.
After all, she truly didn't have the courage to face her classmates right now. Even if they didn't dare to openly stare at her, the feeling of being watched from the shadows would only make her more uncomfortable. And, most importantly, her hand was still firmly clasped in his.
They walked along the tree-lined path, the autumn breeze gently rustling the leaves.
Anran finally seized the opportunity to retrieve her hand. It was already class time, and the path was deserted except for the two of them. Withered leaves fell leisurely, scattering behind them.
As they walked under the canopy of trees, Anran suddenly heard a loud thud, seemingly coming from the western part of the school.
"What was that noise?" Anran asked, curious.
"Nothing, just the sound of demolition," Richard replied casually.
"Demolition?" Anran was puzzled.
"Yeah, the old school building," Richard said, his pupils narrowing slightly.
In fact, the decision to demolish the old school building had been Richard's. The structure, left as a warning by his father years ago, no longer held any significance.
The old school building—the place where she had once been lured into. Anran remembered the rumors and couldn't help but mention them.
"I heard there was a murder in the old school building. An outsider broke into the girls' dormitory and killed a lot of people…"
"Yeah, that did happen, but it was many years ago. Recently, because the place has become a gathering spot for troublemakers from outside the school, the administration decided to tear it down," Richard replied.
Anran nodded, not noticing the shift in Richard's expression when she mentioned the rumors about the old school building.
Years ago, a man had indeed broken into the girls' dormitory. But that man wasn't human—he was a bloodkin who had lost control…
