Chapter 108: The Hunt for Dr. D

The man who had rushed to the scene was none other than Murong Mingyue. Earlier that afternoon, he had been drawn to the aura of resentment emanating from a corner of St. Celestine Academy. He had intended to investigate but was intercepted by the school's security guards. Unskilled in dealing with people, he had no choice but to retreat and wait for nightfall to return under the cover of darkness.

Now, it seemed he had arrived too late.

Murong Mingyue paused, then opened the small silver case he carried with him. Kneeling on the ground, he began assembling something, his movements swift and precise.

Moments later, he spotted a man in a white lab coat burst out of the academy's gates. Under the dim streetlight, Murong Mingyue finally got a clear look at him and was genuinely surprised. The man, who appeared to be in his mid-thirties, had the shrewd, intelligent features of an American.

Murong Mingyue calmly pulled a photograph from his coat pocket and compared it to the man before him. His brow furrowed deeply as he confirmed his suspicions. It was indeed Dr. D from the United States, the very person he had come to Rosewood Town to find.

But the man he was tasked with retrieving was no longer among the living. Did that mean he still had to bring him back?

Murong Mingyue found himself caught in a dilemma. The transition from novice to full-fledged hunter was proving far more challenging than he had anticipated. Perhaps he should consider returning to his old profession.

As Murong Mingyue pondered these questions, Dr. D was also sizing him up. Having just sated his hunger, the bloodthirsty man no longer needed to feed. Yet, Murong Mingyue's presence was unsettling. He couldn't gauge the man's strength and wondered if confrontation was wise.

Just then, another man emerged from around the corner, his eyes locking onto Dr. D. "Dr. D! I've been searching for you for three months! So, you've been hiding in this school all along!"

He had been drawn by the earlier gunshot but hadn't expected to find the elusive Dr. D here. And the man kneeling on the ground, tinkering with something—could he be a foreign agent? Was he also after Dr. D?

"Hey, you there! Dr. D is an American. This is our country's business—stay out of it!" the man barked at Murong Mingyue.

Murong Mingyue ignored him completely. Instead, it was Dr. D who reacted violently at the mention of America. He let out a low, guttural growl of anger.

"Dr. D, there's no escaping this time," the man said, raising his gun. "Hand over your research, and the government might show you leniency."

Dr. D, a renowned biologist from the United States and a left-handed man, had been on the run after conducting illegal human experiments to develop biological weapons.

Murong Mingyue glanced at the agent with a mix of incredulity and pity.

*Fool! The man's already turned into a monster. Do you really think he'll understand you?*

As expected, Dr. D lunged at the agent, brandishing his scalpel with inhuman speed. The agent, clearly unprepared for the ferocity of the once mild-mannered scientist, struggled to defend himself.

*Has Dr. D used his research on himself?*

Within moments, the agent had sustained several cuts, narrowly avoiding fatal blows. In his panic, the agent decided to abandon caution and fired his gun at Dr. D.

But Dr. D's reflexes were beyond human comprehension. He dodged the first two bullets—one missed entirely, while the other grazed him—and retaliated with a swift slash of his scalpel aimed at the agent's throat…
