Chapter 118: The Spirits’ Unrest

Dr. D… a living corpse…

And the large amounts of blood missing from three grown men…

To confirm his suspicions, Lester asked, "Did the Dr. D, who became a living corpse, possess a scalpel?"

Murong Mingyue replied, "Indeed, he did."

After a long silence, Lester spoke again. "If my guess is correct, the vampire from the Hahn family brought Dr. D to Rosewood Town and provided him with human captives for his experiments. They developed a serum—perhaps more than one. As for Dr. D's death, it must also be connected to the Hahn family vampire. How he became a living corpse remains unclear, but it might be related to his research."

An Ran listened quietly, though she didn't fully understand the context, she gathered that their discussion revolved around the strange serum.

Murong Mingyue finally understood why the spirits he'd collected had led him here. The malevolent spirits lingering near the old school building weren't harboring resentment toward Dr. D but toward the vampire responsible for capturing them!

However, since Dr. D's death was linked to that vampire, the living corpse of Dr. D would undoubtedly seek revenge. By following the spirits' guidance, Murong Mingyue could find the vampire and, in turn, locate Dr. D.

"Granddaughter, where did you run off to? Why didn't you turn off the TV?" An elderly voice called out from the house as everyone discussed the case.

Moments later, An Ran's grandfather, clad in his bathrobe after a hot bath, stepped outside. Seeing a group of strangers gathered around his granddaughter, he asked in confusion, "What's going on here? I thought I heard a commotion while I was bathing."

Before An Ran could explain, her grandfather's eyes lit up with recognition. "Ah… Master, you're here too?"

Murong Mingyue responded seriously, "Benefactor, I'm merely passing through."

He wasn't lying; this wasn't his intended destination.

An Ran quickly chimed in, laughing nervously. "Haha… Grandpa, nothing's happening."

Her grandfather found it all a bit odd. "Really?"

"Mr. An, hello, I'm the student council president of Saint Academy. We're here to invite An Ran to participate in some upcoming school events," Lester said, his voice calm and persuasive.

"Oh, so you're all An Ran's classmates!" Her grandfather laughed warmly. "Young people should get involved in more activities. I won't disturb you then. Granddaughter, remember to lock the door when you come back in."

Once her grandfather left, An Ran let out a sigh of relief.

Besides her, Richard had been the most nervous. He wasn't sure why, but he hoped he hadn't left a bad impression on the old man.

At that moment, Murong Mingyue frowned slightly as his coat pocket stirred. He pulled out a glass vial that appeared empty to everyone else, but it was shaking violently in his hand.

Only Murong Mingyue knew that the spirits inside the vial were growing restless once more…

"The vampire from earlier has reappeared. If you wish to find him, follow me."
