Chapter 17: Kills

Chapter 17: Kills

(Time Skip 1 more week :)))

I spent the week drastically focussing on just my Water Elemental control.

Sensei and I had learnt a lot more about this location.

This was a sort of connecting point of Handguns and distribution to other location points.

According to sensei, the handguns could easily kill Genin and even unprepared Chunin.

Today, Sensei's summon, a falcon, had come back from the village.

According to the Hokage, unlike what Sensei had predicted, we were told to stand ground.

At the end of the letter, before sensei burned it, I saw 2 different symbols on it.

Sensei smiled a little at the letter.

"Well color me surprised. It seems like war is imminent." Sensei voiced out.

"What do you mean sensei?" I asked him.

"We were told to wait here, until the Anbu arrived, and then follow the words of the Anbu commander. The rank of this mission has also changed. Congratulations Sikoumu, you are now participating in an A-rank mission with the head of the Anbu." Sensei told me with a slight smirk.

(Back in Konoha, 4 days ago)

"If this is true." Shikaku voiced, reading Naido's report. "We have to take this threat extremely seriously. It would be naive to believe the village hidden in the stone and the Lord of the Land of Earth is unaware of these new weapons under them."

"He is correct." Danzo said, as he looked at the Hokage and the 2 elders, Homoru and Koharu.

"We have to take control of the entire place and gain all the equipment. Even capture safely." Koharu, the old woman mentioned.

The Hokage looked at them and sighed.

"This might start a war." He mentioned.

"Something so simple will not start a war. Even destroying Ushihagakure didn't start a Ninja world war, so fear not." Homoru mentioned.

"I still believe this is an unnecessary risk." The Hokage said.

Shikaku was long motioned to leave the location by the Hokage.

"Hiruzen." Danzo called out, "I need resources to restart root."

"Now is not the time, Danzo." The Hokage mentioned sighing, while he continued to smoke.

"You know the movement of the villages. The sudden increase of spies among our genin. Orochimaru's sudden intense movements and now even these new weapons. The Root is needed for the safety of our village, Hiruzen."

The Hokage took another puff in his pipe and sighed.

"Very well."

6 days. The Anbu made it to our location in exactly 6 days. We waited outside of the village for them and I saw 100 Shinobi in masks arrive.

"A hundred Jounin. Insane fire power, don't you think so?" Sensei asked them.

When he said 100 Jounin, my eyes widened in Shock. 100 Anbu level Jounin were sent, which meant that they were just on standby.

As long as I moved up within the village, I would have command over these many Shinobi as well…

"You would think so, but we were ordered to kill every single person here and leave only the lead scientists alive." The man in charge spoke.

"I understand." Naido-sensei said as he turned towards me.

"Will he be a problem for this mission?" The commander asked Naido sensei about me.

"Not at all, I believe this would be a good experience for him." Naido-sensei told me. I simply nodded, I didn't really have any sway over the situation.

"Good. I have 50 men surrounding the village already. They are simply waiting for my signal." The commander mentioned.

50 more huh…

"Your call." Sensei said as he tapped my shoulder and said, "The Anbu here will do their killings while we go to the underground basement."

The Anbu commander raised his hand and lightning chakra gathered on the tip of his fingers, and shot right into the sky.

All the Ninja disappeared from in front of us, and no sound could be heard but I knew a massacre was occurring in the village.

"Alright then, let's move." Naido-sensei said, as I followed him and even the Anbu commander followed us.

Naido sensei brought us to the back of the village and eventually we went through this secret hatchet which brought us to an elevator.

Going down the elevator, we eventually went to a gun range area.

"Sensei, this seems more like a training area than a manufacturing area." I told Naido-sensei, as he walked around.

"Shikomu." He called out to me. "There's 40 people inside of this location. 5 people are Genin. Eliminate them all."

For a moment, I just stared at Naido-sensei. Not because I was hesitating, but because I was confirming that he was serious.

He was.

I took a deep breath and pulled out a kunai. The Anbu commander watched me closely, probably assessing whether I would freeze up or follow orders.

Yeah, right. I wasn't going to hesitate. This was a game.

[Quest Updated: A-Rank Mission – The Elimination Order

Objective: Eliminate all hostiles in the underground facility.

Reward: EXP, Increased Standing with the Anbu, Potential Loot.]

Without another word, I body flickered forward, moving through the dimly lit hallways. My first target was a Genin standing guard near a set of double doors, casually leaning against the wall. He didn't even sense me until it was too late.

I grabbed him from behind, slammed my kunai into his throat, and immediately felt resistance—like cutting into flesh. He gurgled, blood spilling onto my hand, and the moment he went limp—

[You have killed a Genin. +10 EXP]

I blinked.

I had never killed before, and it felt strangely realistic. The weight of the body, the warmth of the blood—it wasn't some simple animation or number change.

But I was also surprised that a kill awarded EXP...that was definetely something important to note for the future.

Still, I shoved the body to the side and moved forward. No time to dwell on it.

The next three were in a small break room, laughing and playing some kind of card game. Normal people. Civilians. They weren't even armed.

I threw three shuriken in rapid succession, each embedding itself in their necks. The first one barely made a sound before slumping forward, but the second had time to gasp, reaching for his throat before collapsing. The third? He turned, eyes wide, before he even realized he was already dead.

[You have killed 3 civilians. +3 EXP]

10 EXP for a genin, and 1 for a civilian...

I didn't stop moving.

Further ahead, I saw two Genin walking together, chatting about something I couldn't care less about. I flicked a kunai towards the first, striking him in the eye, and immediately closed the distance to the second. He panicked, trying to make a hand sign, but my knee smashed into his gut before he could finish.

I grabbed his head and slammed it against the wall.

[You have killed 2 Genin. +20 EXP]

There was a growing sense of detachment. Not because I was in shock, but because my mind was adapting. The game mechanics dulled hesitation. Kills meant progress.

And I wanted progress.

I continued moving through the underground facility, each kill more efficient than the last. Knives to the throat, kunai to the skull, quick water jutsu to drown a target silently. The numbers in the corner of my vision kept going up.

[You have killed 5 Genin. +50 EXP]

[You have killed 27 civilians. +27 EXP]

By the time I reached what seemed to be the main control room, I had already cleared half the underground section.

Naido-sensei and the Anbu commander walked in casually, stepping over bodies like they were nothing more than obstacles.

"Good work," the Anbu commander remarked, scanning the room. "You didn't hesitate."

I shrugged, wiping blood off my kunai. "Why would I?"

Naido-sensei smirked. "He's adapting well."

I wasn't sure if that was meant to be a compliment.

But as I looked at the bodies around me, I realized something.

This game was getting way too realistic.

[+ 77 EXP in total]

*BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM*
