Chapter 10: Lines Begin to Blur

The next morning, Olivia walked into her office at Pulse Magazine feeling the weight of too many eyes on her.

Her coworkers weren't even trying to be subtle. Some whispered behind their coffee cups, while others openly stared at her like she was the most interesting thing to happen in weeks.

She barely made it to her desk before Liam appeared, arms crossed.

"You've got a lot of explaining to do," he said, sliding a tabloid onto her desk.

Olivia sighed and glanced down.

"Adrian Hayes' Secret Girlfriend Speaks! Exclusive Details About Their Romance."

She pinched the bridge of her nose. "This is insane."

"You think?" Liam huffed. "Olivia, you're a journalist, not a celebrity. How did this even happen?"

She hesitated. How was she supposed to explain that she was caught up in a fake dating scheme with one of the most famous musicians in the world?

Liam sighed, softening slightly. "Look, I don't need the details, but the boss does. You have a meeting in fifteen minutes."

Her stomach dropped.

Fifteen minutes later, she found herself sitting across from Pulse's editor-in-chief, a woman known for her cutthroat approach to journalism.

"I have to admit, Olivia," the editor said, tapping her manicured nails on the desk. "I wasn't expecting you to become the story."

Olivia sat straighter. "It's a misunderstanding—"

"Perhaps," the editor cut in, "but it's a profitable one."

Olivia blinked. "Excuse me?"

The editor leaned forward. "We want you to write an exclusive. A personal account of your relationship with Adrian Hayes."

Her pulse spiked. "That's not—"

"A behind-the-scenes look at one of the most famous men in music," the editor continued. "From the perspective of the woman he's supposedly in love with. It'll be our biggest feature of the year."

Olivia's mouth went dry.

This was her dream opportunity. A major cover story. A career-making moment.

But there was one problem.

Her relationship with Adrian wasn't real.

And writing this article meant lying to the world.

She swallowed. "I need to think about it."

The editor smiled. "You have until the end of the week."

As Olivia left the office, her head swirled.

This wasn't just about her career anymore.

This was about Adrian—about the secret they were keeping.

And she had no idea how long they could keep pretending before everything came crashing down.
