Adrian laid in the crib in his room, gazing at the glowing blue screen hovering in front of him. His system, now fully awakened, was still processing his status when it suddenly froze for a moment before exclaiming dramatically.
> [System Notification: ERROR! ERROR! SYSTEM FAILURE!]
[… Just kidding! SYSTEM HAS DETECTED A HIDDEN QUEST COMPLETION!]
Hidden Quest: Make the Elven Princess Have a Crush on You - COMPLETED!
Reward: Mystery Box (A Mysterious Gift Awaits You!)
Adrian blinked, his thoughts momentarily halted.
"Wait… what?"
Evelyn… had a crush on him?
"Holy hell, when did this happen?" Adrian muttered in shock. He recalled his interactions with the Elven Princess, he had just waved and waved and smiles. He hadn't done anything significant—at least, not yet.
"Hah!" The system laughed mischievously. "Damm, Host you got Rizz , rizzing up girls with just a smile that's gotta be next level.I guess your innocent baby smile, and childish wave struck the little princess right in her heart!"
Adrian thinks about something, sighing dramatically but then smirks. "Well, can't complain . It's a win, and a win is a win."
> [Ding! Newbie Quest Completed: First Step to Power!]
Rewards: Newbie Gift Pack!
"Alright, time for the good stuff." Adrian grinned.
The system hummed excitedly. "Let's start with the Hidden Quest reward, shall we? Opening the Mystery Box!"
A radiant golden box appeared in front of him,and spun for a while before slowly opening to reveal a glowing, ethereal fragment of azure light.
> Congratulations! You have obtained an Innate Gift: Azure Sword Heart!
The system gasped in excitement and utter shock. "Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god! Host! You lucky Motherf*cker?!How the heck did you pull this Gift, the chances of pulling something like this are like 0.001%in the rewards pool of the Mystery Gift., Behold the same Innate Gift possessed by the First Human Emperor—the greatest swordsman to ever exist!"
Adrian's eyes widened as memories from the novel flooded his mind.
The First Human Emperor. A man whose swordsmanship defied logic, a peerless warrior who had single-handedly forged the foundation of the Human Empire. His sword alone was said to have split mountains and severed fate itself. His legend was unparalleled. The only Human ever to cut heavens themselves.
And now… Adrian had the very same gift.
He recalled a moment from the novel—how the original stupid MC once had a chance to wield the First Emperor's sword but was outright rejected.
'Hah! That idiot was deemed unworthy. But now… I wonder if the sword would acknowledge me?' Adrian chuckled internally.
"This is going to be fun" Adrian smirks to himself thinking about the future.
The system snapped its metaphorical fingers. "Host! Don't get lost in thought just yet! We still have the Newbie Gift Pack!"
The screen flickered again as the Newbie Gift Pack opened. Three distinct items appeared before Adrian.
1st Reward: The Fatebreaker Sigil
> A Divine Sigil forged from the power of fate itself. It passively weakens 'Plot Armor' and grants the host a chance to interfere with destiny without attracting it's wrath.
Adrian's heart pounded.
"System… are you telling me… I can actually fight against the MC's plot armor?"
The system cackled. "Oh, hell yes! Those ridiculous coincidences, those impossible luck-based survivals? This sigil throws a wrench in all of that!" AND
"Host,In simple words if I explain to you its functions are that If the protagnaist is the obedient son of destiny then You can now be considered the Rebellious Son Of Destiny. Although you are constantly going against it can't bear to harm you and is even actively helping you and although you and the protagnaist both are her sons , you are the favorite here. She will not interfere in your and the protagnaist's fights and his plot armor can no longer influence people as your plot armor cancels it out.
A slow, grin spread across Adrian's face. "Now we're talking."but soon his mind again drifted into thoughts.
System: "Don't get too excited."
Adrian's crismson-gold eyes flickered with confusion. His thoughts had been all over the place, but what did the System mean?
Adrian (in his mind): "What?"
A pause.
Then, the System spoke again—two simple words.
System: "Butterfly Effect."
Adrian's thoughts came to a screeching halt. Those two words sent a shiver down his spine. The Butterfly Effect—the idea that a small change could lead to massive, unpredictable consequences. His mind raced with possibilities. This has been on his mind everyday since the day he had tranmigrated regardless of what he said to justify , these two words had indeed been troubling him.
Would saving a minor character doom an entire city? Would simply existing outside the original plot twist the story into something unrecognizable? Would his actions create a future different from the novel something outside of his knowledge?
The System let the silence stretch, letting Adrian drown in his own thoughts before speaking again.
System: "I have been closely monitoring your thoughts. You've been trapped in deep thought, haven't you? You fear the Butterfly Effect. You wonder if you should truly change the future… or just let things unfold as they were meant to. And yet, you are still unsure."
Adrian clenched his tiny fists.
He was unsure.
It was easy to dream of making a difference, of rising above, but the fear of making things worse… the fear of losing control of the story's events… it held him back.
The System's voice turned sharp.
System: "Tell me, Adrian. Do you truly want to be like those vegetarian extras? The ones who, after transmigrating, hid in the shadows? The ones who let the so-called protagonist take the stage while they cowered in fear, never even daring to challenge fate?"
Adrian froze.
The words struck deep.
He thought of countless transmigrators in novels—those who never fought back, who never even tried to win, simply because they were afraid of messing with fate. They convinced themselves that playing safe was the only way to survive.
Was that what he wanted?
To be just another nameless side character?
Seconds passed. Then minutes.
The room was silent except for the faint rustling of fabric as Adrian's tiny body shifted in the crib. His infant heart pounded, his decision forming like iron being forged in a fire.
And then, in a final, unwavering tone—one word left his mind.
Adrian: "No."
The System smiled.
It wasn't a visible expression, but Adrian felt it—a sense of satisfaction radiating from the entity that had bound itself to him.
System: "Good. Then you no longer need to fear the Butterfly Effect."
Adrian's breath hitched.
System: "With the Fatebreaker's Sigil and my influence , I assure that the plot will remain in place. The Butterfly Effect will be limited. No matter what you do, key events will not unravel into chaos."
Adrian's eyes widened.
So… he had a safety net?
A way to break fate without shattering it entirely?
For the first time since waking up in this world, he felt a weight lift from his mind.
His path was clear now.
He wouldn't be a passive extra.
He wouldn't be a cowering spectator.
He was Adrian.
And this was his story.
2nd Reward: Dual-Core Genesis Manual
> Allows the user to simultaneously condense an Aether Core and a Mana Core—something thought to be absolutely impossible.
Adrian nearly choked on his own breath. "Impossible…"
He had read the novel countless times. He knew that no one—NO ONE—had ever succeeded in possessing both a Mana Core and an Aether Core. Not even the protagonist, who had plot armor thick enough to survive literal divine wrath, could do it.
"System, are you sure this isn't broken?" Adrian asked in disbelief.
The system whistled. "Host, I think you forgot—YOU are the MC now!"
Adrian took a deep breath, his hands trembling as he looked at the glowing manual lying in the system storage. If this worked, he wouldn't just be strong—he would work his ass off to make sure he was the strongest..
Adrian's eyes gleamed.
"So… I just got swordsmanship talent of the First Emperor, a cheat-level power that lets me break plot armor and the ability to do the impossible with dual cores, ?"
The system hummed. "Yup! You're officially overpowered Host atleast in terms of Talent !"
Adrian smirked, gripping his fists. This was exactly what he needed.
The days of being an extra, a mere spectator like his last life were over.
This was no longer just a novel he had tranmigrated in ,it was his story now.
