The night was thick with tension as Luca, Elena, and Dante gathered in a safe house on the outskirts of the city. A single dim bulb flickered above them, casting long shadows across the room.
Luca's hands trembled as he stared at the phone, replaying Sofia's muffled sobs in his head. He had to move. Fast.
"We need to be smart about this," Dante said, pacing. "Adrian wants you to come alone, but that's not happening."
Elena crossed her arms. "We need to track the call. Find his location before we make any moves."
Luca exhaled, rubbing a hand over his jaw. "Do it."
Dante pulled out his laptop, fingers flying over the keys. "I'm running a trace, but Adrian's not stupid. He's bouncing the signal."
Luca clenched his fists. "Then we force him to make a mistake."
Elena looked at him carefully. "What are you thinking?"
Luca grabbed Vasquez by the collar, yanking him up from his chair. "Your boss likes playing games? Fine. Let's play."
Vasquez smirked despite the bruises already forming on his face. "You think you can outplay Adrian? You have no idea what he's become."
Luca's eyes darkened. "Then let's find out."
Two Hours Later – The Setup
Vasquez sat tied to a chair in the middle of an abandoned warehouse, his face bruised, his smirk still intact. Elena stood by Luca's side while Dante monitored from the shadows.
They had spread the word—Vasquez was compromised. If Adrian wanted his lieutenant back, he'd have to show himself.
Minutes passed. Then—
A phone rang.
Dante's voice came through the earpiece. "It's him."
Luca answered. "I'm listening."
Adrian's voice was like ice. "I warned you, Luca. Now she pays the price."
A muffled scream. Sofia.
Luca's blood ran cold. "Don't."
Adrian chuckled. "Then come and stop me."
A message came through—a location pin. The docks. Midnight.
Luca's jaw tightened. "You hurt her, I'll burn everything you have to the ground."
Adrian's voice was calm, almost amused. "Oh, Luca. You already did that once. Now it's my turn."
The call ended.
Elena grabbed Luca's arm. "We're coming with you."
Luca shook his head. "No. If he sees you—"
"We're not letting you go alone," she interrupted.
Dante sighed. "We'll be watching from a distance. You get Sofia. We take out Adrian."
Luca hesitated, but he knew they were right.
He nodded. "Then let's end this."
Because tonight, either Adrian died—
Or Luca did.
