Lucas walks along with the shopping trolley, Julia and Emily talk while they look at the products they've decided to buy for the ranch, and his father looks at what he has to buy for the month.
But he feels that he is constantly being watched.
"Even at the market I don't have any peace?"
But as he entered the cereal aisle, he felt a being running towards him, and instinctively he looked behind him.
"There's no one there."
The hypermarket was full at some points and not at others, in the case of the aisle they were in it was almost empty, but the lights went out and his family disappeared in the blink of an eye.
In the next blink of an eye, he is surrounded by figures and hears them.
- Lucas, Lucas, Lucas!
He wakes up, he was just dozing off in the car, which causes him to be shaken awake by Julia, who noticed him dozing off.
However, when he opens his eyes, he hears a low voice in his ear.
- You got away with it, but next time you won't be so lucky.
So she asks him.
- Didn't you sleep today? You look tired.
Lucas opened his eyes and saw that he and his family were already in the parking lot and looking for a place to park their car.
"Are we there yet?"
But a parking space is soon found.
- Let's go. - Lucas comments, a little tired.
However, he felt like he was being watched, just like in his dream.
So Lucas went on controlling the shopping trolley while feeling this terrible sensation.
"Let's hope it's not a sign that they're coming, I have to stop doing anything concrete."
His family did their shopping quietly, then time passed and it was night, Lucas was going to bed after organizing the house while thinking.
"At the market, it was strange, it felt like someone was following me, even when we were eating lunch, because Dad and Mom forgot to make lunch, but I still felt the same sensation as when I was at the market."
And when he entered the room, he continued.
"Normally these sensations go away when I leave the place, but the strange thing is that in this case, I continued to have this feeling even after leaving the market, really very strange."
During this, Emily talks to Lucas's father as they lie on their double bed, in their older, worn-out clothes, Emily asks him.
- Hey, honey.
He replies.
- What's wrong?
She lies down and says.
- What do you think of Lucas' behavior? Like, weirder than usual or everything as normal?
He answers frankly as he gets ready for bed, covering himself with a comforter.
- To be honest, I think he's been worried about something, maybe we should ask him about it tomorrow.
- So we've all realized it then, Julia's been secretly telling his friend all this, we're afraid of what he might do when that day comes. - Emily says worriedly.
- I know, I think to this day that if I'd done more than I did that day, Lucas wouldn't have the problems he has now. - He comments in the same tone.
Faced with the way her husband expressed himself in front of her, she hugs him, saying.
- There was nothing to do, there's no need to blame yourself so much Paulo, I bet that one day this will all be over and we'll all be able to sleep without this worry.
Then he says to her.
- But will that come soon?
She answered him with a smile.
- I don't know, only time will tell.
- I just wanted to know a bit more about him, so I could help him, like a bit more about what he thinks.
But Lucas hears nothing of this conversation, as he is sound asleep and in his thoughts during his dreams.
He was in a room, sitting in a chair, in front of him was a wooden table and on top was a computer.
"What is this place?"
Looking diagonally to his right, there was a wooden door leading somewhere. In front of him, he noticed that the room was long and there was another door, made of metal with some glass in it.
"Are those doors open? But before I go and check, I'll see what's behind them."
However, when he looked behind him, and right next to it, there was a passage to another place, and next to the door, a window was exactly behind him, and he also realized that there was no door to protect him, only a red button.
"Why that button?"
Suddenly the being appeared inside the room he was wondering what was inside, due to a flickering light bulb on the ceiling.
Unsure if it would work, Lucas quickly pressed the button.
"I hope that's what it's for!"
A thick steel plate descends and closes the passage, and he is relieved to see it happen.
"Whew!"
Meanwhile, the being starts banging on the door.
The computer buzzes. Lucas notices this and sits down to see what's on it.
But in an instant, the knocking sounds stop, but he thinks as he checks the device.
"He's already stopped banging on the door, let's hope he doesn't try to break the glass, I don't know if it's tempered, reinforced or any other name for glass, but in any case, I have to get out of here as soon as possible."
Then on the computer he saw that there was a camera system in the place.
And on them he could see that the door in front of him gave access to a room, the one diagonally to the right gave access to a room which also gave access to a corridor.
"What the hell is this place?"
So he keeps checking, and then he sees the cameras in the rooms behind him, and realizes that the room behind him gives access to two other rooms, one further back and one to his right, which gives access to another corridor.
He looks behind him to see if The Being has gone, but is startled.
"Oh no!"
It was watching him from the window and so it left.
After being startled by The Being, he sees that there is a small control unit with only two buttons on it.
"Maybe it's related to the other doors."
However, when he looked again at the cameras on the computer, he realized that the centipede-shaped being was coming towards the right-hand diagonal door and its macabrely clumsy laughter was echoing in the door.
Lucas despaired when he saw that it was approaching the door, but he didn't know which was the right button for that door.
He ended up pressing both of them, at which point the steel plates came down, blocking their entrance, as they prevented them from destroying the wooden doors.
He was relieved to see that one of them was the right one.
"I hope it goes soon, I need to test which button is the right one, but first I'll see if it's still there or if it's trying to trick me."
Looking at the camera in the room behind him, he noticed that no one was there, apparently, but that was enough for him to press the button again, so that the steel plate rose and left him unprotected.
Faced with this, he immediately went to continue reviewing the cameras, and realized that The Being was rushing towards the entrance behind him.
Instinctively, he quickly presses the button, again closing the passage with the steel plate.
But he can't be relieved, because the two beings start banging on the doors ferociously, and at the front door, which was already closed, a being begins to appear and spoils the cameras wherever he goes.
Seeing that he was in danger, he didn't know if those plates could withstand their blows.
"I've got to get out of here!"
So he searched the place and found a secret passage under his desk on the left-hand wall.
However, it wasn't a basement, or a corridor, in fact it looked like a makeshift emergency exit, due to its small size, which for Lucas could only get around by crawling.
Seeing this, he thought quickly.
"There's no way, it's going to have to be like this."
The knocks get louder and the two begin to make their sounds, making him speed up his escape, and using his feet, he closes the passage.
"Let's go! Let's go!"
Crawling in total darkness, he heard the beats of the beings stop and their sounds increase, practically shouting, something had happened, but logically, he didn't want to stay and watch.
So, in total darkness, he stopped feeling his body pounding at the edges of the small secret exit.
Ambulance siren sounds.
He woke up to find himself on a hospital gurney inside an ambulance, the door was open and he could see that something very serious had happened during the night.
He also realizes that his body is now that of a child, and as soon as he sees his hands he deduces this.
"Have I gone back in time?"
The ambulance door closes and before it does, a health worker enters the vehicle.
The vehicle starts to move, but everything goes dark again.
Suddenly the alarm clock on his cell phone rings.
And he's awake, back to reality, the dream is over.
But at the police station.
The sound of an iron door closing.
Emily was in her police uniform, walking into the police station and thinking.
"To really start the investigation, I have to get those files."
In this way, she went past the reception room and the meeting room, to arrive at a room with several micro-offices, in which there were computers, chairs, tables with two drawers at the bottom, small lamps on the tables, some glasses with some pencils, erasers and rulers.
So she went into one of these micro-offices, sat down in the chair and started up the computer.
"But first I have to fix the computer.
Just as she had finished turning it on, someone came over.
- Hey! Emily.
She looked over and saw a man in a police uniform with friendly features, accompanied by his brown eyes, dark skin and straight hair.
"I'd forgotten that Augusto put me together with the rookie to
take care of this case."
- What's up, newbie?
- Have you turned on your computer yet?
- Yes, because I'll need to scan those documents and to speed things up, I've already turned on my computer.
He says in a friendly way.
- I've already done that too, so when will we have access to the Peculiar Case Thirteen files?
Emily then speaks a little confidently.
- Now.
Then she gets up.
- Follows me.
And following her, she soon arrives at the deputy's office.
The place has a bookcase with books, his diplomas, framed, and a framed photo of a tropical landscape, there was also a desk and chair in offices, the desk having drawers.
Also wearing his uniform, the Delegate was using his custom-built computer on his own salary, because he thought the ones provided by the government were "prehistoric".
So he stops reviewing some reports and asks them when he sees them enter his office.
- What do you want? - He asks in a confident manner.
Emily makes a serious expression, which he understands, but says.
- Are you sure you want to do this now?
She replies a little fearfully.
- Yes, I want to see those files, so I can digitize them.
The delegate turns serious and comments.
- I see.
He pulls out one of his drawers and finds several documents in it. As he checks it, he takes out a small steel key.
- Come with me.
They leave the deputy's office while he talks.
- After our police station burned down, a new, more modern one was built in its place, but...
The three of them arrive at a wooden door at the back of the police station, and with the key he took earlier, Deputy Augusto opens the door.
It reveals a hidden area, a staircase down to the basement and when they get there, they come across a large storage area for files and things from the old police station.
Walking into this space, he says.
- This place is full of cameras to keep an eye out for possible thieves.
Then he points to one on the right-hand wall.
- There, one of those cameras is even recording us right now.

Civil Police recording ../../ ....Brasília time .. : ..
Another camera records them going to one of the iron shelves in the room, until Augusto stops in front of a shelf.
- This particular bookcase is the one that contains reports and accusations and hypotheses about the Peculiar Thirteen case, but...
He removes a worn box from the shelf.
- This box contains the reports and records of Peculiar Case Thirteen, well... It's what's left of the case, because many valuable files from that case were burned in an unknown location, or burned in the infamous fire at our police station.
As they remove the box, the camera captures a frame of several humanoid figures surrounding them.
The deputy then asks them.
- Well, this is the last time I'm going to ask you, after this there's no going back, do you want it now?
- I do. - Emily replies.
- That's fine, since we're already here. - The newcomer replies fearfully.
Being serious, the deputy hands the box to Emily.
- Good luck to you, and take care.
The camera locks on and in the frame in which he enters the box, he captures the figures around them again and a cry of agony from several people at once.
Mistake...
On his way back upstairs, the delegate closes the access door.
- Once you've made copies of the files, hand the originals back to me so I can put them back in their proper places.
A little confident and very fearful, she replies as she goes to the desk.
- All right then, I just want the copies of the files.
And then the deputy stops them when they're about to go to the desk.
- Yeah, I almost forgot, burn the copies when you're done, for the sake of all the future and current police officers in this precinct, understand?
- There's no need to get worked up about it, I'll burn these files myself at home.
He goes back to his office and comments.
- So good luck to you, you're going to need this a lot.
She then continues calmly on her way, but thinks to herself.
"I hope it's just a legend, with these files I could finally see if it's true, but I wouldn't want it to be for that reason, I'll do it for them, Gustavo and Alberto helped me become the detective I am today, now I'll have to honor them in this investigation."
