Chapter 1

Melody was at home celebrating her childhood sweetheart Levi's birthday. To prevent me from interrupting them, she deliberately called to trick me and our daughter into going to a ski resort thirty miles away.

Heavy snowfall blocked the mountain roads, and I froze to death there.

On the day she regained her sight, she finally remembered that I had been tricked into going to the ski resort.

"Still throwing a tantrum with me, what a big man with such a small heart."

Later, when Levi was in a car accident and needed Rh-negative blood, she began desperately searching for me.

She even drained our daughter's blood to save her childhood sweetheart.

Our daughter, barely clinging to life, held her hand and said:

"Mom, Dad died a long time ago. Your cornea was donated by him!"

"Dad, don't die! I'm calling Mom right now to save you."

I looked at Harmony, her face streaked with tears, and raised my hand to wipe them away. Using my last ounce of strength, I comforted her, "Live well. After I'm gone, donate my eyes to your mom."

My daughter clutched my phone, desperately trying to call Melody.

In the freezing winter night, my heart died.

After my consciousness faded, my soul was somehow pulled out, returning to Melody's side.

"Happy birthday, Levi," she said, holding a cake. "May the rest of your life be safe, healthy, and always happy."

So, she was celebrating Levi's birthday. No wonder she didn't answer my calls!

Levi held her hand as he blew out the candles. "You're here for my birthday. Won't Rylan be upset?"

Melody laughed, "Don't worry. To keep him from crashing the party, I sent him to a ski resort thirty miles away. Plus, my phone's off. He won't bother us."

Seeing them so happy, tears suddenly welled up in my eyes.

Melody and I were once the most promising pair figure skaters.

Five years ago, someone drugged her, and we spent a reckless night together.

When she woke up, she believed I had drugged her to ruin her reputation.

Under public pressure, she had no choice but to marry me and have a child.

After Harmony was born, she spent even less time at home.

Her heart and mind were completely focused on her childhood sweetheart, Levi.

The news continued on the television.

"According to reports, at 5 PM today, an avalanche occurred at a ski resort in the suburbs, resulting in three deaths and one severe injury."

......

A year ago, Melody tried to cook for Levi at home, accidentally exploding the induction cooker and damaging her eyes.

This past year, her mood had been unpredictable. Due to the lack of a suitable cornea donor, she took out all her frustrations on me and Harmony.

So, she couldn't see the news content.

Levi quickly turned off the TV.

Melody grabbed Levi's hand and asked, "Did you make a wish?"

"I did. I wished for you to find a suitable cornea soon, so you can see again."

How wonderful.

That wish would soon come true.

The next day, the hospital notified Melody that someone was willing to donate a cornea to her.

"That's great, Levi! It must be your wish that heaven heard," Melody hugged Levi tightly. "Thank you, Levi." As I watched this scene unfold, my heart was flooded with a bittersweet ache.

Was it Levi's wish that came true, or was it the cornea I donated that made her happier?

The cornea transplant surgery went by quickly.

On the day Melody regained her sight, she sat in the hospital room, waiting for the doctor to remove the bandages from her eyes.

When she saw Levi standing before her, a flicker of disappointment crossed her face.

In that moment, Melody finally remembered me.
