I Can't Say I Love You

Ji Aier looked at the lively girl in front of her and thought that Raymond, who was too calm, really needed such a girl to complement him. She could bring him surprises and unexpected moments.

"I'm here!" Julia, who was sitting facing the door, saw Raymond come in and stood up, waving at him.

Upon seeing Julia's action, Ji Aier also turned her head to look behind her.

Raymond was stunned for a moment. The person sitting opposite Julia was the one who had been deeply rooted in his heart for so many years. And at this moment, seeing her, she hadn't changed at all, just like she was before falling into a coma ten years ago.

"Raymond!" Ji Aier stood up and turned to face the man at the door, calling him softly. His beautiful emerald eyes remained the same, but there was a trace more of melancholy in them.

"This is the surprise I told you about!" Julia came over, pulled Raymond to sit down in the seat beside her, and said, "You two talk slowly. I'll go outside and take a look."

"You haven't changed at all," was the first thing Raymond said to Ji Aier.

"My mindset has changed," Ji Aier said. Although her appearance hadn't changed. She looked at Raymond and asked, "How have you been these years?"

Raymond nodded. He no longer had a clear sense of whether he was doing well or not. Anyway, he just went through the same routine every day. If it weren't for this important cooperation project to negotiate, he wouldn't have come to China.

"I'm really happy to know that you woke up," Raymond said. But just knowing that she was awake yet not being able to see her made him feel sad.

"Sorry, I've caused you a lot of trouble," Ji Aier said guiltily. "If it weren't for Julia, I wouldn't know when I could see you."

"She's my fiancée. I didn't know she came to find you," Raymond said, glancing at Julia outside the floor-to-ceiling glass window.

"She's very good to you," Ji Aier said sincerely.

"I know. I will marry her," Raymond said indifferently. Whether he was trying to convince himself or Ji Aier, he didn't want to think too much about it.

"You should love her, Raymond. She deserves all your love," Ji Aier said, holding Raymond's hand that was on the table.

"I'll try my best," Raymond said, holding Ji Aier's hand in return. She was still so thin. But at least he could feel the warmth from her palm, unlike the almost icy touch when he was by her hospital bed.

"I hope you'll treat me as your sister in the future, a real sister," Ji Aier said with tears welling up in her eyes.

"I'll try my best," Raymond repeated. He would try his best to love Julia and try his best to treat Ji Aier as a real sister.

"Brother," Ji Aier called.

Raymond looked at Ji Aier but didn't respond. After a while, he let go of Ji Aier's hand and stood up.

"I should go now. Julia has been waiting outside for a long time," Raymond said and walked out.

"Brother," Ji Aier stood up and called Raymond again, turning towards him. She just wanted to hear him respond.

"I love you, but I can't," Raymond said and walked out of the Italian restaurant without looking back. He left Ji Aier with just a lonely figure.

Ji Aier stood there, tears streaming down her face...

Sometimes, we don't get to decide which path to take in life. Because there's a word hidden in our destiny: involuntarily.

Involuntarily loving someone we shouldn't love,Involuntarily holding on to someone who doesn't belong to us,...

All of this is just because sometimes we can't control our feelings. We love someone we shouldn't, but we can't bear to let go.
