Inside the school's archives, shelves stacked with old files stretch out like a silent labyrinth. The dust on some of them suggests they haven't been opened in years, perhaps decades.
Sohara Akima stood at the entrance, clutching the list of tasks assigned to him by teacher Misaki Shido. One point was crystal clear:
"No need to open the school's old archives, focus on recent files only."
He raised an eyebrow, then exhaled lightly. Why would something be mentioned just to emphasize not to go near it? Isn't that alone reason enough to be suspicious?
But, of course, he wasn't interested in starting unnecessary battles in his first week. He tucked the list into his pocket and continued on his way. Meeting room, long table surrounded by neatly arranged chairs. A new student council meeting, familiar faces, memorized monotony.
Yukiha Kurasawa sits in her usual place, scrutinizing reports. It was clear that she was working very efficiently, but Sohara couldn't help but notice something else... the way she paused for a second between each report, as if catching her breath.
"The budget is already allocated, but we need confirmation from the administration department on the additional equipment."
One member said, before adding with a slight hesitation:
"The only issue is that the new manager hasn't started work yet, and the administration isn't giving clear answers about some things."
Here, for a moment, Sohara noticed something strange.
Misaki Shido, who had been watching silently, changed her posture slightly, as if she had become more stiff. It wasn't something easily noticeable, but to someone who observes small details... it was quite obvious.
Yukiha, for her part, showed no reaction.
"We'll take care of that later." She said simply, before looking at Sohara: "What about the stage preparations?"
"Everything is going according to plan, no major issues."
She gave a small nod, and the meeting moved on to other points.
But Sohara didn't ignore what he noticed. The new principal, the school's archives, Misaki's tone... it was as if there was a thread connecting them, but he wasn't able to see it clearly yet.
After the meeting, as everyone was leaving, Yukiha remained in the hall, going over the reports again.
Sohara, who was on his way out, paused for a moment. He thought for a moment, then turned to her:
"You're working too much."
She looked up at him, her features unchanged. "That's part of my responsibility."
"Sometimes, taking care of everything means not seeing the big picture."
"And sometimes, ignoring the small details causes the whole picture to fall apart."
They stared at each other for a second, before Sohara gave a sideways smile and walked out without further comment.
Yukiha remained silent, looking at the reports in front of her, but her focus was somewhere else entirely.
Something was moving beneath the surface... but she wasn't sure exactly what it was.
