Archive Office - 6:12 PM :
The old archive wasn't one of the places that students visited often. In fact, they weren't even supposed to be here.
Sohara Akima stood in front of an antique metal door, running his fingers over the digital lock affixed to it. Beside him, Yukiha Kurasawa watched silently, her hands clasped behind her back, her expression neutral, but not without caution.
"So?" She said in a low tone. "How do you intend to open it?"
Sohara leaned over to look at the number plate. "I expected it to be locked, but..." He pressed the enter button. Green light. "The door was not fully secured."
He raised an eyebrow. "...Looks like we're in luck."
Yukiha took a quick look around, then took a step inside. "Luck? Or did someone leave it open on purpose?"
Without replying, Sohara followed her inside.
Inside the Archive - 6:15 PM :
The air inside the room is thick with the smell of old paper and dust. Shelves stretched along the walls, filled with files and records organized with uncanny precision, as if someone had placed everything so that it looked so natural.
Yukiha moved between the shelves with cautious steps, her eyes skimming over the titles. Sohara stood in front of one of the cabinets, running his fingers along the edges.
"Class of 2005..." he muttered to himself, searching, but to no avail, there was no file with that number.
Yukiha stopped beside him, looking at the shelves. "That's strange, someone must have taken the file."
Sohara slowly lowered his head. "Either someone hasn't filled out the records yet... or someone doesn't want us to know the information inside the file."
Sohara looked at the other files, and pulled out one at random. The records of the Class of 2004. This time, the papers were full of information.
"Strangely, everything else is in place." He said in a quiet voice. "Only this year's class is... missing."
There was a moment of silence before Yukiha said: "There seems to be something about this batch... that no one wants us to know."
And just as she said that.
the sound of movement at the door.
They both turned quickly. The door they had left open moments ago... was slowly closing.
Then... the sound of the lock being activated.
"Oh, that's interesting." Sohara muttered, while Yukiha looked at the closed door, her expression frozen.
"Looks like we're not alone here."
