Chapter 3

Roselyn's POV

“I'm sorry, Miss Roselyn, it's all my fault. I shouldn't have made known my feelings for you, especially when you had a fiancé and a wedding at hand. I was being selfish by doing so, and now I've ended up putting you in a tight corner” He sincerely admitted.

“Please pardon me for this, Miss Roselyn, and I promise to protect you, to defend and let the whole world know you have nothing to do with this. It was a one-sided love on my part”.

“Sure, you should do that. However, I would prefer it more if you could forget everything about me, and focus on your studies. You have a lot ahead of you!” I answered, taking a step away from him, but he quickly grabbed me by the hands.

“Hey, let go… you wouldn't want to start another rumour, would you?” I questioned, my gaze on his hands, which were firmly holding onto mine.

“I want to do it though…” He stated, his gaze boring into me, my brows furrowed, confused about what it was he had just said.

“Do what?” I queried, trying to free my hands from his grip, but he wouldn't let go.

“As the woman I love, I want to stand up for and defend you. When I said I had feelings for you, I wasn't kidding, and I still feel the same way now.” He answered, and I had shivers all over my body from the genuine expression on his face. How on earth did I get myself into this situation?

“Ivan, please get over it. This love cannot happen! You should date within your age range. Being in love with me would only hurt you. That kind of love is not accepted. It's forbidden love!” I said, severing our hands, and walked away without turning around.

“I still want to give it a shot. I realize it's a love that's not meant to be, but I can't help how I feel. I'm head over heels for you, Miss Roselyn, and I hope you can see me in the same light!” He exclaimed passionately, but I didn't bother to answer or look back at him.

He's totally gone off the deep end. His genuine nature combined with his fearless attitude is his downfall. It would've been a lot smoother sailing if he just learned to keep quiet and keep his feelings in check.

The next day, I made my way to Raymond's office, determined to clear the air and mend our broken relationship. Little did I know, things would take an unexpected turn as I revealed who had set me up.

“If Miss Catherine had really framed you like you just claimed, then how do you explain this? How do you fucking explain these photos that were taken of both of you?” He asked, his voice thundering with anger as he scattered the photos on his desk for me to see.

Lo and behold, and much to my surprise, they were photos of Ivan and I speaking with each other at the school yesterday, and there were photos of the time he had grabbed my hands, much to my dismay.

“These… I was… only… explaining things to him… and he somehow held my hands… honestly, there wasn't anything else…” I tried explaining, but it didn't look like he believed me.

“Did you have your men take those photos of us?” I queried, my hands ravaging my hair in a picky.

“Does that even matter right now?” He asked, slamming his hands on his desk as he got up from his chair, eyes blazing with fury.

“Well, of course, it matters. Tell me who took those photos already! I'm going to sue them for invasion of privacy” I declared, unable to bear the shit anymore.

“Wow, now you want to go the suing way instead of claiming you have anything to do with the boy? So you were indeed having an illicit relationship with that kid?” He asked, glaring at me.

“Oh, common, understand me, Raymond! It's not that I am having an affair with the… I'm only…” I couldn't finish my statement as he immediately cut me off.

“Oh, shut it, Roselyn. Shut it, and leave my office right now, or have me call security on you. I don't ever want to see or hear your stories again. You should go to hell, you and that fucking kid!!!” He yelled, pointing me out of the door.

Gradually lifting my feet off the ground, I made my way out of his office, leaving his company behind. My mind was so consumed with thoughts that I didn't even notice the approaching vehicle, nor did I hear the honking of his car as a warning. Before I knew it, I was struck by the car.

The last thing I saw, before everywhere went blank for me and I slipped into unconsciousness, was Ivan's face.

He was shouting and calling out on apprehension to the people around for help. But how on earth he was there at that time was a mystery to me, and I didn't want to believe he had trailed me.

The next time I found myself, I was in a room at a hospital with Evelyn sitting on a chair beside me on the bed and fast asleep.

“Evelyn, Evelyn, wake up… what happened, why am I here?” I inquired from her, managing to reach her from the bed with my hands, and amid the excruciating pain coming from my head.

“Oh, Roselyn, you're awake now? Let me quickly call the Doctor!” She said, bustling out of the room as soon as she had woken up, and soon, the Doctor came into the room, bearing his report sheet in his hands.

“I apologize, and I'm not sure if this is the perfect moment to share this news, but I believe it's important to do so now.”

“During your treatment, we found out that you were two weeks pregnant, but unfortunately, a miscarriage happened during the accident, and I regret to inform you that you have lost the baby,”

The Doctor disclosed, causing me to collapse once more.
