Roselyn's POV
"How could you bring disgrace to our family's name? I've always understood that you are not, and never have been, the proper person for my son! I believe that this is the last time I will put up with you; all this time, I have only put up with you because my son loves you.” With a final reprimand, she slammed her purse on my head and turned to leave with her entourage.
Right, I forgot to mention earlier that Raymond comes from a wealthy family and is wealthy himself. Just a few moments ago, I was lucky enough to have a man who had everything I ever wanted in a husband.
“Hey, Roselyn, you can't be like this. Get a grip on yourself and get up from the floor already!” Evelyn exclaimed as she attempted to lift me from the ground, but I remained immobile. Completely shattered.
“Believe me, Evelyn, I never had anything apart from studies to do with that kid, and yet I'm being framed for having an illicit relationship with him. Who do you think could have done this to me, huh?” I queried, my face now swelled up with tears.
"I totally trust you, Roselyn. You've always kept me updated about the student, even when he admitted his feelings for you, and you turned him down flat.”
“Let's dive deeper into this discussion, but only after you've gracefully risen from the ground. You can't have people snapping photos and videos of you in this state. It's already embarrassing enough!” She urged as I struggled to stand up, escaping the prying eyes of onlookers.
Evelyn guided me away from the wedding venue, all the way to my house. Even when I tried to make a pit stop at the Bar for a couple of shots of vodka to drown my sorrows, she firmly declined and urged us to head straight home instead.
On reaching home, I collapsed onto the couch, crying my heart out as Evelyn reached over to get a glass of water and tissues for me.
After some time, Evelyn decided to turn on the TV to lighten up the mood, only to be greeted by the news about me on the channel. "Miss Roselyn Davis, a teacher at Holmes Senior High School, had her wedding called off earlier today due to an inappropriate relationship with one of the students, Ivan Smith.” At once, She turned off the TV, letting out a frustrated groan.
Just then, my phone started to ring, it was a call from the school. The principal precisely.
"I want you to hurry down to the school right now. We're having a disciplinary meeting about you and your actions. You not only brought shame to our school but also damaged its reputation.” Demanded the principal, Mr Matthew, as he abruptly ended the call.
“Do they really have to do the meeting now? And must you grace the meeting?” Evelyn asked, pacing up and down the place.
“Yes, I should, and I will,” I answered, picking up my jacket and stepping out of the house.
“I'll go with you then!” She responded, but I stopped her.
“There is no need, Evelyn, you've already done enough, and I should brace this myself” I answered, entering my car and zooming off to the school.
Before I even arrived at the school, my fate had already been determined and settled by the school, which decided to expel me as a disciplinary action. They didn't bother to listen to my side of the story or conduct a thorough investigation, blindly trusting the false information spread by a malicious individual.
While I was packing and clearing my desk in the teacher's staff room, I encountered the vice-principal, Miss Catherine. She is the only daughter of the principal, Mr. Matthew, who will be taking over his position in the school.
My ears were filled with the clicking of her heels as she approached me with a radiant and happy face seeming fulfilled with my current situation.
“Well, let's see who's here. Is this Roselyn, the teacher, the pure and upright one? How does it feel to be tarnished according to society and perceived as a transgressor?” She inquired with a sneer on her face, and as my mind raced through her and her demeanour towards me, things started to slowly click into place.
"So, you're the one then? The one who set me up and is responsible for my current predicament? However, why would you go to such lengths to undermine me? I asked, feeling the realization strike me like a tidal wave, hands on my chest.
“Why? Was it the query you just posed to me? Where did you forget why I would have carried out such an action?”
“Firstly, did you think I would fold my hands and watch you get married to a man I've always wanted for myself? Then again, were you not the one who threatened to expose my secret and corruption in the school to my father and the public? Especially how I had aided a student in your class in doing malpractice?”
“You were the one who kicked things off, all I did was outsmart you. How does it feel? Hopefully, you've learned your lesson and will steer clear of my path in the future!” She taunted, playfully swaying her hips as she exited the room.
There was this tea cup that I typically use at school, which I was holding in my hands while talking to her. Suddenly, in a fit of anger, I gripped it tightly, and it shattered into pieces.
So she was the one, the enemy I was up against? How did I even get here? I just couldn't believe my ears, and my eyes too.
One thing was certain, I won't go down like this. Not without a fight. I will clear my name, and have my revenge on her.
As I exited the school premises, where I have spent the majority of my years working, I unexpectedly came face to face with Ivan who happened to have rushed over to the school, probably after hearing the news about us.
His piercing emerald eyes locked onto mine, brimming wit
h intense emotions. It was a blend of sorrow and worry.
