Roselyn's POV
“You are back already? Were you able to get back your bag?” Evelyn asked me as I returned to her place.
“Yes, Evelyn, I did. But guess who I saw today, and coincidentally happened to be the one I switched my luggage with?” I probed, still not over the whole feeling of seeing Ivan again.
“You know I'm not good at guessing, and hate to be left in that kind of situation. So quickly, tell me who it was!” As one always keen and interested in getting the latest tea, she urged me on.
“I would have loved it if you guess, though. It is someone I had never expected to meet again and not so early after returning here” I said, holding a serious and somber expression.
“Could this person be Raymond then? I'm certain you would have never wanted to meet him in this life again”.
“He's not the one, Evelyn, and seriously I would have preferred it if he were the one, and not Ivan!” I answered, letting the cat out of the bag.
“What? Did you just say Ivan? No, this isn't looking good. You shouldn't be found an inch near him. I mean, you are yet to get over the incident that happened between you guys five years ago, and your name, yet to be cleared from the scandal”.
“So please do away from him. Do not have anything at all to do with him again. Let's just consider your meeting with him today, a mate mistake, or rather a coincidence, and view it as why that never happened” She advised.
“I share the same thought with you, Evelyn, but the boy in question isn't helping matters. I don't know if what happened five years ago was all a joke to him”.
“He doesn't need to help matters, Roselyn. We can just slap it into him. But what did he do that made you say so?” She probed.
“Apparently, he is curious about me. He wants to know how it has been for me all these years, how I managed to survive, and what I have become” I disclosed.
“Jeez, this boy is bent on being the end of you, Roselyn. Just how does he manage to cook all these up?”
“I also wonder the same, my dear. And I do envy him for one thing—Being able to speak his mind without any form of fear or feeling of shame!” I answered, shaking my head in frustration.
“That's only because he is a young blood who knows nothing about life. So tell me, how did you manage to discharge him after all that?”
“How else, Evelyn? I totally ignored him, walking out of the place. There was no need to bicker with him, as he always has the last words!” I answered, letting out a heavy breath.
“If I ever get to meet him one day, I'll give him an earful and warn him not to ever near you again! If possible, we would get a restraining order from the court because I don't ever want you to face the same thing in the past”.
“Right? We should do just that!” I concurred. Just then, Evelyn's younger sister, Saraphina, came into the room, holding a magazine in her hands.
“Auntie Evelyn, I just found a role model!” She announced, walking up to her sister.
“Is that so? Let's see who it is then! Is the role model in line with the career you have in mind to do in the future?” Evelyn asked.
“Yes, Auntie, he is. Here, take a look at him. He is the one whom this magazine was made for!” She answered, showing us the magazine and speaking of the devil, it was none other but Ivan on the front and back page of the magazine.
“How is… he is the one here?” Evelyn and I both asked out simultaneously, the magazine dropping out of our hands.
“Seems like Auntie Roselyn and you already know who he is?” Saraphina asked, staring wide-eyed at us.
“But why are you two shocked? Is he not a good person? Should I not make him my role model? He is in his fourth year as a law student in one of the prestigious law schools in the city, Veritas Law Institute to be precise, and he just won first place award in the international legal writing competition that took place a few months ago. It's not his first award, though. He has won several others right from his first year as a law student”.
“I love him both for his good looks, hard work and intelligence, which is why I chose him as my mentor. I just love everything about him, and lest I forget, he will be launching his fifth written book about law soon, and I'm eagerly awaiting it. I'm going to attend the book lunch. Not only that, but I love how he is already making his mark at such a young age”.
“It makes me want to work harder on myself, believing that just like him, I can also make it. I'm going straight to law school after my senior year in high school”.
“But do you guys know the answer he gave when he was asked at the international award event of the legal writing competition he came first place concerning how he managed to achieve such a level of success, and what his driving force was?”
“No we don't, do tell us already!” Evelyn persuaded, wanting to know about it all, our curiosity having been piqued, all thanks to Saraphina.
“I have it in my memory and have been repeating it over and over again. This was what he said; ‘I was eager to grow up and become an adult as soon as possible. I wanted to be someone significant and influential, and it was all because of this special person I had a crush on. So it's safe to say that person was my driving force, propelling me towards success.”
“And who did he say that crush is?” I found myself asking, hoping for it not to be what I was thinking.
“Well, he didn't disclose. That is what all of us fans are curious about. We are eager to know, more than anyone else, who that crush of he is.” She answered, leaving me co
mpletely frozen in place at all the revelation about him.
