Catherine's POV
“Guess who I saw last week during the educators conference?” I inquired from Raymond as I visited him in his office during lunch as my manner has always been.
Unknown to everyone, especially Roselyn, I've been having a secret affair with Raymond. It began way before she got engaged to Raymond whom she was still dating at that time.
Let's brush off the past a bit. I'm going to come back to it later on.
“Aren’t you always seeing one person or the other anytime you go to an event? Please do not bother me if it is not someone important” He answered, as I helped him put on his tie properly. We have just finished making out in his office and he was putting his clothes back on, maintaining the office mood.
In his words, I let out a deep breath; “It’s not just someone important, Raymond, but a person you know very well. The person I'm referring to is none other but that bitch you were once engaged with, Miss Roselyn.” I finally broke it down for him.
“Huh? That's quite the shock. So she is still alive? Seeing as we never heard of her again, I thought she would have been dead by now. So tell me, how was she when you saw her?” He questioned, his gaze fixated on me.
“As much as I wouldn't want to admit it, she was so full of life, looks well-fed and better than she used to be before” I genuinely answered him.
“But that's not all, Raymond. You won't believe that she is the anchor or rather, the manager of Harrison Noah's brain more Academy. I was stunned upon the knowledge of that”.
“You mean the same Harrison Noah's brain more Academy we've been hearing of all over the globe?” He questioned, doubting the news.
“I was as shocked as you were to learn of that, my dear. I mean, how could she have risen to such heights despite the scandal hanging on her head? Was Harrison Noah blind when he let her oversee an Academy founded by him? The more I think about it, the more I can't help but think she got something to do with that man” I expressed.
“Something to do with the man? You mean just like the secret affair you are having with me?” He asked, his tone sarcastic.
“Hey, don't talk to me that way, Raymond. Ours is a mutual affair or are you not in terms with it?” I probed, rolling my eyes at him.
“That's not the point, Catherine. Can't you see that you jumped into conclusion about her? Not everyone is like you, you know? An opportunist, a slut, and a gold digger!” He voiced, causing me to raise my hands to slap him, but he was faster, seizing my hands.
“You were going to slap me just now, huh? For letting you know the truth about yourself?” He asked, sizing me with his eyes as he had my hands twisted at my back, I glared at him, my eyes narrowed into slits of simmering rage.
“Let go of me right now, Raymond! What right do you have to judge me when you are not the better person here?” I asked, anger slitting through me as I kept glaring at him.
“Of course I have all the right in the world to judge you, Catherine. It's also one of the reasons why I refused getting married to you despite all those years. You are not fit to be called a wife, as who knows? Even after marriage, you can still go about chasing and sleeping with other men. And I can never trust you in life”.
“You brought it upon yourself by messing around with me despite knowing of my commitment with Roselyn. You literally chased after me and turned me into the cheat I am today!” He snapped at me, as I struggled not to let the tears that had just formed in my eyes fall for him.
I'm not going to give him the pleasure of seeing me shed tears for him.
“Let me go at once, Raymond, or you won't like my reaction!” I threatened, trying to free up my hands, which he had twisted at my back.
“It will be stupid of you to think I would fall for that threat of yours, Catherine. What can go wrong in the company where I'm the CEO? You can't do a damn, sweetie. You're only good in bed. That's the only thing you can do and undoubtedly the reason you are still with me so I can satisfy my primal desires, and nothing else” He answered, his words piercing my heart like a bullet.
How can a man be this spiteful with words? This was my first time witnessing this side of him. It was as if I've been with a different man all this while. How could he, in just split seconds of hearing about Roselyn, turn into something else?
“If she was that much of a different person, and you love her fucking much, you wouldn't have asked me to frame her up on the day of your wedding with her!” I spat back at him, marching his energy, as he let out a light chuckle at me.
“Not one more word from you, Catherine. You are only worsening it for me to let go of you!” He said, twisting my hands further at my back as I let out a scream in pain.
Just then, and as if the heavens had come to my aid, my phone which was on top of his desk started to ring, the caller ID, reading his mother as the one calling me.
“I got to take that call!” I said to him as he immediately let go of me and I quickly went over and picked the call.
“Hello, Mama.” I addressed his mother like I normally do.
“Raymond is there with you, right? Quickly, the both of you should rush down to Nova care hospital. I just rushed Daniel to the hospital and the Doctor is demanding to see both parents.” She informed me, color drain
ing from my face at once, leaving me pale as a ghost.
